  1. Sony has announced the release of new fully wireless headphones WF-SP800N, aimed at athletes. They are distinguished by the presence of active noise reduction and protection from water according to the IP55 standard. In addition, they support the Google Assistant voice assistant and proprietary sound improvement technologies. Sony WF-SP800N are traditional in-ear plugs with silicone ear pads. Additionally, they are equipped with a mount for a more secure fit in the ear. This solution allows you to use headphones even during active training, without fear that they will fall out. IP55 protection ensures that sweat or even a little rain will not harm them in any way. The headphones support active noise reduction with the ability to adjust its intensity via the proprietary mobile app. The so-called "transparent" mode is also supported, when activated, the surrounding sounds become audible. You can turn it on permanently or temporarily by touching the earphone with your finger. Additionally, it provides bass amplification due to Extra Bass technology, 360 reality Audio surround sound, and the ability to call voice assistants without having to take out the smartphone. The stated operating time from a single charge is 9 hours with noise reduction enabled and 13 hours with the power off. Charging from a branded case provides an additional 9 or 13 hours of operation, respectively, and fast charging allows you to get an additional hour of music playback in just 10 minutes. The Sony WF-SP800N is available in black, white, blue, and orange for $199.99.
  2. After the recent massive leak, fans of The Last of Us needed at least some good news, and Sony decided to meet them halfway. The company named the final release date for the game, which was previously delayed several times. It is also important that Sony had to push back the release of its other exclusive - the action game Ghost of Tsushima. Initially, the long-awaited sequel The Last of Us was supposed to be released in February, but the development team did not have time to bring the project to perfection, so the release date was moved to May 29. It was later announced that the game would not be released on that day either, as the COVID-19 pandemic had severely delayed the workflow. The new release date for Part II is June 19. Since it conflicts with the premiere of the samurai action game Ghost of Tsushima, Sony decided to move it from June 26 to July 17. Recall that recently the Internet was shocked by a large-scale leak: the network posted several videos showing the gameplay and cut scenes of The Last of Us Part II, containing plot spoilers. According to preliminary data, it's all the fault of one of the game's testers.
  3. Without any warning, Sony finally decided to show the gamepad for the PlayStation 5. The controller was named DualSense with a hint of new features, as well as a changed design — it became two-color and more rounded. Sony again pointed to improved tactile feedback with vibration and trigger resistance. According to the developers, with DualSense, players will be able to feel all the potholes on virtual roads and the bowstring tension in the hands of the protagonist. The company also added a built-in microphone, used a new lightweight battery and replaced the Share button with Create with similar functions - more on this will be discussed later. DualShock is made in white and black, and the shape is now much more similar to its competitor from Microsoft. At the same time, Sony did not abandon the symmetrical arrangement of the sticks and did not add more buttons, at least on the external sides of the controller — the internal one was never shown. Among other things, the developers placed the light panel on the sides of the touch panel. Sony still did not show the design of the PlayStation 5 itself — while the company limited itself to a lot of technical details about the console. The first presentation from Mark Cerny was held on March 18. Although netizens ridiculed his approach to the announcement of a new gaming system, in early April, he further clarified some details in an interview with Digital Foundry.
  4. Sony has announced the release of the new FE 20mm F1.8 G fixed focal length lens, adding to its G Lens range of branded lenses. A model called SEL20F18G with an E-mount and fast aperture will soon appear on the shelves of electronics stores and in the range of online retailers. The FE 20 mm F1,8 G lens became the most wide-angle solution in the series. The new product is designed for shooting landscapes and night scenes on full-frame Sony cameras. The lens design includes two aspherical elements and three of ED-glass. According to the manufacturer, this combination suppresses the effect of chromatic aberration and ensures stable image quality over the entire frame area, even with f/1.8 aperture fully open. The lens is suitable for close-up shooting with a minimum focusing distance of 0.19 meters (maximum magnification of 0.2x) and supports the background blur effect. The lens is protected from high humidity and dust by a special fluorine-containing coating. The model has a customizable focus lock button and aperture ring, which operates in two modes: with clicks and silently. The FE 20 mm F1.8 G is also compatible with 67 mm filters for creative shooting. The XD linear actuator provides low vibration for fast and quiet autofocus. The new product will go on sale in April 2020.
  5. Sony has announced a new smartphone called the Xperia 10 II, which continued the vendor's line of branded gadgets in the mid-price segment. The main features of the device are a "cinematic" screen, a triple main camera with a set of optics for different shooting conditions, and an increased battery capacity compared to its predecessor. The new product inherited from its predecessor the elongated shape of the display with a diagonal of 6 inches with an aspect ratio of 21:9 and a resolution of Full HD+ without holes and cutouts. Unlike last year's model, the manufacturer used an OLED matrix instead of an IPS. The smartphone case is protected from water and dust according to IP65/68 standards. The device is built on the basis of an eight-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 665 processor and is equipped with 4 GB of RAM, the volume of the built-in storage is 128 GB. The battery with a capacity of 3600 mAh is responsible for the autonomy of the model. One of the features of the device is the 3.5 mm audio jack, which is less common even in the mid-budget segment. The Xperia 10 II main camera module has three sensors with a resolution of 8 (ultra-wide-angle optics), 12 (wide-angle glass) and 8 MP (telephoto lens, equivalent focal length of 52 mm). The selfie module received one 8-megapixel sensor. The model supports 4K video recording and "cinematic" shooting with a 21:9 aspect ratio. Specifications: Display: 6 ", OLED, 21: 9, Full HD +, protective glass Corning Gorilla Glass 6 Chipset: Qualcomm Snapdragon 665, GPU Adreno 610 RAM: 4 GB Built-in memory: 128 GB Main camera: 8 megapixels (f/2.2, EFG 16 mm) + 12 MP (f/2.0, 24 mm) + 8 MP (f/2.4, telephoto, EFR 52 mm, OIS) Front camera: 8 MP (f/2.2) Battery: 3600 mAh Security: Fingerprint scanner on the side Weight: 151 grams Sony Xperia 10 II in black and white cases will go on sale in the spring of 2020, the cost of new items will be announced later.
  6. The cancellation of the MWC 2020 exhibition did not stop the Japanese manufacturer Sony from presenting the flagship XPERIA 1 II smartphone, which officially reads as the Xperia 1 Mark 2. And this name of the new product was not accidental — the 12-megapixel camera module of the device, according to the company, has a lot in common with Sony Alpha SLR cameras. The gadget's advantages include a 4K-resolution display, a 5G module, and wireless charging.

The Sony Xperia 1 II received a 6.5-inch 4K OLED display with an aspect ratio of 21:9. In addition to high resolution, it is also interesting to support proprietary technology to reduce blur. According to the manufacturer, the smoothness of animation due to its application is similar to displays at 90 Hz. The new product is based on the Snapdragon 865 platform with a Qualcomm X55 5G modem. The device is equipped with 8 GB of RAM and 256 GB of internal memory, a 4000 mAh battery with support for fast wired (up to 21 W) and wireless (up to 15 W) charging. On the back of the device, the main camera is located, which is represented by three 12 MP (f/2.2) sensors with wide-angle lenses, 12 MP (f/1.7) with two-phase autofocus and a focal length of 24 mm and 12 MP (f/2.4) acting as a telephoto a lens with a focal length of 70 millimeters and the possibility of 2x zoom. All cameras are equipped with Zeiss lenses. Additionally, a time-of-flight sensor is installed on the main camera unit. The resolution of the front camera, located on the classic inactive rectangular area, is 8 megapixels. Sony representatives focused on a unique algorithm for automatic focusing and tracking, which reads information about an object at a frequency of 60 times per second. This ensures that dynamic photos are taken with maximum sharpness. The uniqueness of the Sony Xperia 1 II camera is that today it is the only mobile sensor that can shoot two frames per second with autofocus and auto-exposure. Considering that the company is positioning this model as a mobile alternative to Sony Alpha SLR cameras, the regular “Camera” application has a special Photo Pro mode, which duplicates the controls for “professional” cameras. Sony plans to develop a Pro version of the Xperia 1 II. The smartphone will be designed for use by professional videographers and reporters, for whom the priority remains the ability to broadcast live video over 5G networks. In addition, the smartphone will be equipped with an HDMI D port for connecting to professional cameras and other equipment. Sony has not yet announced the price and release date for this model. The standard version of the Xperia 1 II is capable of shooting 4K video with a frame rate of up to 60 fps and up to 120 fps in 2K mode. The cost of the flagship, available in black and pink, the company did not disclose.
  7. The latest version of Android gives smartphones new features and an interface, but sometimes it can cause negative consequences. Users of several models of Sony gadgets at once complained about a number of problems that arise after the official update to the current firmware version. One of the main “failures” reported by owners of Sony Xperia XZ2 and XZ3 smartphones was a noticeable delay in the smartphone getting out of lock when using a fingerprint scanner. Some users experience a fast battery drain or accidentally turn on the smartphone screen. Another owner of the Xperia XZ3 said that his alarm went off every minute, despite being turned off and only after clearing the cache did the signal stop. In some cases, after the update, the smartphones did not open more than one application at a time or completely hung, while rebooting the device did not change anything. The Xperia XZ3 and Xperia XZ2 models were released in 2018 and are based on the Snapdragon 845 mobile platform. Nevertheless, these problems were also affected by last year's Xperia 1 and Xperia 5 smartphones based on Snapdragon 855. Some users managed to fix the errors using the Xperia Companion application, but a few days later all the problems returned. According to unconfirmed information, Sony has already suspended the distribution of updates for some models of smartphones. The exact release date for the patch to address these issues is unknown.

  11. Previously, there was information that in 2020 Sony will release just four flagship smartphones. The existence of at least one of them is confirmed by a new leak from the Geekbench benchmark database. According to it, the device will get a really top configuration. An unknown gadget has a model number PM-1310, and Sony is indicated by the mention of this name in the list of supported devices on the official website of Sony Mobile. In addition, the PM-122X is the model number for the Xperia 1 released this year. The smartphone is equipped with the flagship Snapdragon 865 processor and 12 GB of RAM. Android 10 is indicated as the operating system. In the benchmark, it scored 4261 points in single-core mode and 13 422 in multi-core. These indicators fully coincide with the recent test results of the new chipset. Sony is expected to introduce new flagship smartphones at the MWC 2020.
  12. Even before the presentation of the new Sony Xperia 2 smartphone, the first shot of the next model of the flagship line of the Japanese vendor appeared on the network. The leak showed what the next flagship of the company would look like, and hinted at one of its key features. A photo of an unannounced smartphone demonstrates the key features of its design. The fingerprint scanner will be placed on the side of the curved body, the central part of which is thinner than the upper and lower edges. One of the main features of the device will be its productive hardware. The new display will do without holes or cutouts - the front camera is located in the frame area of the screen. It is expected that the Sony Xperia 3 will be one of the first to receive the latest Snapdragon 865 processor. According to available information, the model will be presented in two configurations, codenamed Kona and Huracan. The main difference between them is the presence of a 5G modem. Presumably, Sony Xperia 3 will be presented in February 2020, the price and detailed specifications of the gadget are unknown.
  13. Sony introduced WF-1000XM3 wireless headphones. Among the key features of the model, in addition to high sound quality, are the long battery life, active noise reduction function, NFC module and a number of other options for various usage scenarios. The product is based on the QN1e processor with support for Active Noise Reduction Dual Noise Sensor. The principle of its operation is the capture of external noise with the help of two microphones and the creation of an inverted wave that neutralizes extraneous sounds. Under the “hood” of the model, 6 mm drivers with neodymium magnets were placed with the support of an integrated DAC with an amplifier capable of processing the 24-bit audio signal. Despite its compact dimensions, the frequency range of the headphones is not cut off: their “coverage” is from 20 Hz to 20 kHz. To improve the sound quality of MP3 files, Digital Sound Enhancement Engine HX (DSEE HX) technology is provided, which “tightens” the compressed format to high-resolution audio standards. The headphones support SBC and AAC codecs, the list of Bluetooth profiles includes A2DP, AVRCP, HFP, and HSP. The technology of simultaneous transmission of sound to both headphones improves the quality of the connection and reduces the delay time of the signal. Thanks to the use of the Bluetooth 5.0 module, the model is characterized by low power consumption and is able to work up to 8 hours on a single charge. When you turn on the noise reduction function, the battery life will be up to 6 hours, and taking into account the battery capacity of the charging case - up to 24 hours. Additional features of the Sony WF-1000XM3 include an NFC chip for quick pairing with a smartphone, Quick Attention mode to reduce the volume during a conversation, support for Google Voice Assistant and Wearing Detection, which pauses the track when you remove one of the headphones and resumes when it is placed back to the ear. You can configure sound, noise reduction, and gestures for touch control through the Sony Headphones Connect mobile application.
  14. Air conditioning is a good way to combat the heat, but its area of action is limited to the room in which it is installed. Japanese engineers Sony presented an original way to freshen up on the street: a miniature gadget that can cool its owner, weighs only 85 grams, and you can control the intensity of its work directly from your smartphone. A compact device called Reon Pocket, size slightly larger than a credit card is built on the basis of the Peltier element. The thermoelectric element can be heated or cooled depending on the set operating mode, which can be selected using the mobile application. Complete with miniature air conditioning manufacturer offers a t-shirt with a special pocket on the back for discreet wearing the device under a shirt or jacket. The product is not intended for permanent wear and is positioned as a "life jacket" for the transition between air-conditioned or heated rooms or office buildings. The built-in battery is designed for 90 minutes of continuous operation, a full charge will take about two hours. Now the development is at the stage of crowdfunding, the basic set of the device and one t-shirt will cost customers $ 130. It is expected that "pocket air conditioning" will become a more affordable alternative to high-tech, but expensive smart clothes for athletes and the military. In case of successful fundraising, Reon Pocket will go on sale in Japan on March 2020.
  15. Sony introduced the seventh generation of the popular compact camera RX100. It differs from its predecessor with the new Exmor RS sensor, the latest generation BIONZ X processor, increased shooting speed, improved autofocus and the presence of a connector for connecting an external microphone. Sony RX100 VII received a new inch Exmor RS sensor with a resolution of 20.1 MP. It includes 357 phase points and 425 contrast points for the autofocus system. The lens in the camera uses the old — ZEISS Vario-Sonnar T* with 8.3-fold optical approximation (24-200 mm, f/2.8-4.5). Like the flagship model a9, the camera can shoot at 20 frames per second without darkening the viewfinder. There is also a single Burst Shooting feature to create a short series of seven shots at speeds up to 90 fps with locked focus and exposure by a single press of the shutter button. In addition, from the more expensive models, the product has inherited the technology of tracking the object and autofocus on the eyes in real-time when shooting both photos and videos. The camera supports up to 4K (30 fps) video recording without binning. Improved image stabilization, the ability to record vertical video and slow-motion at speeds up to 960 frames per second. Sony RX100 VII is equipped with a 3-inch touch display and a 3.5 mm jack for an external microphone. The interfaces include Wi-Fi 802.11 n, Bluetooth, NFC, USB 2.0 and HDMI. The footage is stored on SD/ SDHC/SDXC cards and Memory Stick Pro Duo. The new Sony RX100 VII will go on sale later this year for $ 1,300.
  16. Previously, Sony ignored the trends in the world of smartphones, but recently still succumbed to the onslaught of competitors. In Xperia 1, the Japanese manufacturer has already gone the way of increasing the number of cameras and pulling displays. The next step is likely to be the creation of a flexible smartphone. This is indicated by the new patent. The document describing the "folding device with sensors in the display" appeared in the database of the world intellectual property office. The application was filed on March 4, 2019, and the patent was published publicly on June 27. The explanatory note describes a screen with three main sensors: pressure, temperature, and acceleration. Thanks to their interaction the device will understand in what position it is held by the user. The document also mentions a gadget with two displays. It is possible that this is another development of the Japanese company. The publication of the patent, alas, does not mean that the manufacturer will soon show the device described in the document. But this suggests that Sony is preparing for the potential release of a foldable smartphone if the market is in demand for such gadgets.
  17. After only three months after the presentation of the flagship smartphone Sony Xperia 1, the well-known high accuracy of the leak insider OnLeaks published a series of renderings of the second revision of the device. Despite the lack of official information about the development of the gadget, the images look very reliable. The key design difference between the device and its predecessor was the "moving" of the triple camera module from the center of the back cover to its left edge. The device's display still does without cutouts and holes, but the top and bottom display frames are more symmetrical compared to the Xperia 1. The renderings clearly show that the novelty will keep aspect ratio 21:9, but the real size of the device is unknown. According to the source, the Xperia 2 will get a 6.1-inch screen — for comparison, the XPERIA 1's diagonal is 6.5 inches. Judging by the images, the smartphone will not receive a 3.5 mm audio jack: owners will have to use an adapter or wireless headphones to listen to music. Specifications and possible date of announcement of the gadget are unknown — given the relatively recent release of Sony Xperia 1, it is unlikely to expect the appearance of new items this year. Some sources suggest that the renderings show a device of a completely different line, although they recognize the similarity of the mysterious device with the previous model. Sony did not provide information about the possible release of the Xperia 2.
  18. After the announcement of the PlayStation 5, some gamers rushed to figure out how much you can snatch now without five minutes irrelevant PS4, but Sony, judging by the latest leaks, is not ready so easy to part with the "four". Journalists believe that the PlayStation 4 family is waiting for replenishment. According to insiders, the novelty is on the way — and at a very attractive price. We are talking about the PlayStation 4 Super Slim. According to media reports, the new product based on the new 7-nm processor with a crystal size of 110 mm2 will be lighter and more compact than its predecessor. The estimated price of the new item is 199 euros. The cost reduction was probably achieved by installing a smaller built-in drive. Expected date of sales starts: autumn 2019. Journalists believe that this situation is quite realistic. Sony has already done the same with the PlayStation 3, introducing Super Slim at the very end of the life cycle of the console. Such a move could attract a new audience and reduce the likely financial loss associated with the reluctance of consumers to buy more expensive versions of PS4 shortly before the release of the new generation console. However, it should be remembered that before the official announcement, all this is just rumors.
  19. The rumor about the new PlayStation goes for a long time, but before the official statements from Sony, all this was just speculation. Today, the Corporation decided to put an end to gossip. Mark Serney, the platform architect, confirmed that the company does not intend to stop on PS4, and shared with journalists of the portal Wired long-awaited information on what will be a next-generation console. The new PlayStation has no official name yet, although gamers will surely be surprised if it is not a PS5. In addition, wait for a novelty in stores in the near future is not worth it: the release in 2019 is out of the question. However, some studios have begun work on games for the console, but Sony took over the newsletter devkitov. Mark Serney, who designed the PS4, again acted in this role, already for the successor of his previous creation — and he also shared the main facts about the device. CPU - AMD Ryzen third generation ZEN2 architecture, process technology 7 nm GPU - based AMD Navi, with the Custom modifications and support for ray tracing, 7 nm process technology The new audio subsystem with support for 3D-Audio Current PSVR compatible with the console. The headset will be reissued later It was also mentioned that Sony is like the SSD, but PS5 will be "something special." It is possible that the question of a hybrid vehicle (HDD + SSD-cache or HDD + Optane-cache). Cerny brought a concrete example of how a new solution affects the download speed in Spider Man'e when moving fast, it increased more than 15 times The next prefix will have physical media, but it is not yet said which ones. 20. Yesterday, Sony showed the first issue of State of Play program, which is designed to acquaint the public with the novelties in the world of PlayStation. After the rejection of the PlayStation Experience, the audience expected from the stream at least "E3 for the minimum salary": high-profile announcements, a spectacular show and something unpredictable. Instead, the Corporation announced a few little-known games, saying just a few words about the major titles and paid much attention to PS VR, which greatly disappointed some gamers. So much so that they literally drowned the broadcast recording in dislikes. In fairness, Sony did not promise a Grand event. Yes, the company said that they will "show new trailers, announced the game and presented new gameplay videos — -but the disclosure of, say, the release date conditional Death Stranding speech was not. The stream went exactly as planned by the Corporation: there were shown, for example, Iron Man, No Man's Sky Beyond and Blood & Truth for PS VR, the latest videos on Mortal Kombat 11 and Days Gone for PS4 and something else-in General, absolutely weak show cannot be called. Some gamers, however, judged differently. The first video of State of Play on YouTube mercilessly "threw" dislikes, repoured a couple of hours later too. Adding, however, to the condemning "finger down" a lot of angry comments that Sony allegedly removed the previous video in order to reset the statistics. On the forum ResetEra opinions are divided. Some users believe that without really loud announcements of the show came out strange, the company did not really show anything, and the time was wasted. Those gamers who did not anticipate anything special were satisfied and praise the format. The party remained and the owners of PS VR: for them, the stream was full of pleasant surprises.

  22. At Mobile World Congress 2019, everyone expected Sony to announce the flagship smartphone Xperia XZ4, but the Japanese manufacturer made a surprise by introducing the Xperia 1. In fact, it is the same smartphone, but with a new name. This move on the part of the company is very reasonable, because before us is not an improved version of the previous model, but a completely new device. Sony smartphones have always been famous for their original design, and the next flagship was no exception. While other manufacturers produce smartphones with a screen aspect ratio of 18: 9 or 19:9, the Japanese company moved to 21: 9. As a result, the Xperia 1 received an elongated body. This solution has a number of advantages: when surfing the web, more information is placed on the screen, and it became even more convenient to work with two applications at once. Also important is the fact that the screen resolution is 4K. Sony smartphones from year to year criticized for the quality of shooting. Therefore, in the new Xperia 1, the manufacturer abandoned the high-resolution sensors and succumbed to the trends by installing three different modules of 12 MP each. Main with an equivalent focal length of 26 mm and optical stabilization for standard shots, a telephoto lens with equivalent focal length of 56 mm and OIS for shooting portraits with the double zoom and 16-mm "shirik" for photos with a wide angle. Among the features of the camera-photography in 10 fps mode with autofocus and automatic exposure, shooting in low light conditions and the creation of cinematic clips in 21:9 at a speed of 24 fps. The flagship model received 4K video recording with many features, including a new mode called Cinema Pro. The user will be able to use the options of professional shooting and video editing using the pre-installed proprietary application. The device display supports 10-bit color and wide ITU-R BT color space.2020, as well as DCI-P3 and work with standard Illuminant D65 light sources. In Xperia 1, the manufacturer still did not give up all the features of its predecessors. This is especially true for the filling of the audio. The smartphone was equipped with stereo speakers supporting Dolby Atmos surround sound technology. As in previous models, there is a function Dynamic Vibration System, when the sound is accompanied by vibration-for example, during explosions in games and movies. In addition, support for Hi-Res Audio, LDAC codec, DSEE HX technology (recovery of lost information during compression) and stereo sound recording is announced. Another feature that migrated from last year's Xperia XZ3 — Side Sense. This feature allows you to control the gadget with swipe and tap on the side faces. For example, a double-tap menu starts with quick access to your favorite applications, which with the help of artificial intelligence adapts to the needs of the user depending on the time of day. So, if in the morning you usually listen to music or flipping social networks, then these programs will be offered, and at work, it can be a messenger, email client or other frequently used applications. In addition, the swipe down is responsible for the back function. As befits the flagship, Sony Xperia 1 got the top filling.
