  10. Since the middle of last year, the creators of electronic devices have begun gradually implementing the latest Wi-Fi 6 standard, which offers a significant increase in performance compared to 802.11 ac. But HUAWEI decided to go even further and develop an improved version of the standard specifically for the new flagship P40. According to several Chinese sources, HUAWEI is working on Wi-Fi 6+ technology. Insiders do not name specific technical characteristics of the unique module, but they successfully operate with the statement of the Vice-President of the company regarding the current Wi-Fi 6 standard. Earlier, Li Xiaolong, who is responsible for HUAWEI's mobile division, noted that the theoretical bandwidth of smartphones equipped with Wi-Fi 6 is 1200 Mbit/s. in practice, this maximum value was 900 Mbit/s, but only under "ideal conditions". In general, according to the top manager, in the existing form, Wi-Fi 6 is significantly inferior to the indicators that were achieved on the flagship smartphone Huawei Mate 20, introduced in 2018. This situation is caused by the fact that, according to experts, the Snapdragon 865 processor does not support 8x8 MU-MIMO hardware, but is only able to work in 2x2 MU-MIMO mode, which leads to a decrease in speed. HUAWEI's flagship smartphones use its own Kirin processor, which apparently has more advanced network capabilities. According to insider information, HUAWEI not only plans to improve the standard by using the Hisilicon Hi1105 chip in the P40 model but will also release several of its own routers, thanks to which it will be possible to unleash the potential of the wireless module in the new gadget.
  11. In the coming days, HUAWEI plans not only to hold a presentation of smartphones but also to introduce a new processor of the Kirin family. Insiders became aware of technical details about the mobile platform and the date of the announcement of the chip, which will expand the range of 5g devices in the middle price segment. According to online sources, we are talking about the Kirin 820 5G model. For its production, an improved 6-nanometer process using EUV lithography is used. Compared to the 7-nm technology used by its predecessor, the Kirin 810, the new generation of chips has increased the density of transistors by 18%. It is expected that the mass production of the new product will start in the second quarter of 2020. The processor can become a platform for the updated HUAWEI nova series and the HONOR 10X smartphone so that both devices will be able to work in fifth-generation networks. Insiders are sure that the announcement of the processor will take place on February 24, along with the presentation of smartphones, tablets, and laptops of the vendor. One of the main HUAWEI innovations at the upcoming event will be the flexible Mate Xs, built on the basis of the Kirin 990 5G chipset with support for fast charging technology with a capacity of up to 65 watts.
  12. The production of smartphones in China has long been put on stream, in connection with which small factories often resort to producing clones of expensive models from large brands. Over the past few weeks, a huge number of such copies have been spotted on the website of the famous Chinese retailer AliExpress. Moreover, the vast majority are flagship clones from Samsung and Huawei. The manufacturer of most models is an unknown company Kimtien. Its range includes, for example, the Kimtien Note 10+ (a fake version of the Samsung Galaxy Note10+) and a clone of the HUAWEI Mate 30. It is noteworthy that the cost of new products is almost five times lower than that of the originals. Instead of Snapdragon 855 and Exynos 9825 processors, the Chinese manufacturer decided to use more affordable chips from MediaTek. At the same time, the design of the devices largely repeats the original one. The average cost of clones varies from $130 to $180.
  13. Both versions of ultrabooks with the latest tenth-generation Intel processors and NVIDIA discrete graphics cards are already available for pre-order, and sales will start this week. According to the leak, the MateBook 13 model will get a 13-inch IPS display with a resolution of 2160x1440 pixels and a 3:2 screen aspect ratio, occupying 88% of the laptop cover area. The thickness of the new product's screen frames will be 4.4 mm. Depending on the configuration, the laptop will be built on Intel Core i5-10210U or Core i7-10510U processors in combination with 8 or 16 GB of RAM and NVIDIA GeForce MX250 discrete graphics. The size of the SSD with the PCI-Express connection will remain unchanged in all versions - 512 GB. The laptop will receive a fingerprint scanner integrated into the power button, two USB Type-C ports and a 3.5 mm audio jack for headphones. To remove heat from the CPU and GPU, a proprietary cooling system with two fans will be used. The capacity of the battery with new items supports the rapid 65-watt charging amount to 41.7 Wh, the thickness of the body - 14.9 mm, weight - 1.32 kg. MateBook 14 will receive a display with a similar resolution and aspect ratio, which will occupy 90% of the laptop’s front panel. The device will be equipped with a similar set of hardware configurations and a more efficient cooling system. The 14-inch versions in the Intel Core i5/8 GB, Intel Core i5/16 GB, and Intel Core i7/16 GB versions were priced at $850, $922 and $1066, respectively. The start of sales of laptops is scheduled for February 7.
  14. Until now, when purchasing compact headphones, users had to choose between the noise isolation of in-channel plug models and the comfort of earbuds. HUAWEI was the first to combine the advantages of two form factors in one accessory. How was it before? In-ear headsets are often equipped with silicone tips that fix them deep in the ear canal. Thus, better sound insulation is achieved. However, from the continued use of such models, the ears begin to get tired and even hurt. This problem is not in the in-ear headphones, because they conveniently lie in your ear due to their anatomical shape. However, the noise insulation in them is simply zero. On a crowded street or in the subway, you have to turn up the volume to the maximum in order to somehow hear the music or the other person. Therefore, when choosing a headset had to sacrifice convenience or quality. What did HUAWEI do? The Chinese tech giant combined the seemingly incompatible. Completely wireless FreeBuds 3 made in the format of open liners. At the same time, they support the function of active noise reduction, which was not previously offered on the market. To do this, they had to radically revise the headphone device and introduce a number of new technologies. HUAWEI engineers conducted many experiments, studying in detail the structure of the ear canals of a large number of users. So it was possible to understand what should be universal headphones that can be used comfortably for many hours. Even people's posture and habits associated with using headsets were taken into account. Then the noise was analyzed in various scenarios: flying in an airplane, traveling in the subway, being in a noisy room, and so on. The algorithm was trained to effectively deal with them, cutting off sounds up to 15 dB. For example, FreeBuds 3 adjusts the noise reduction function depending on the shape of each user's auditory channel. What technologies are at the core of FreeBuds 3? The basis of the HUAWEI FreeBuds 3 is the proprietary Kirin A1 processor. It supports Bluetooth 5.1 and 5.1 LE protocols, providing a fast and stable wireless connection. HUAWEI also applied isochronous dual-channel technology to simultaneously transmit the signal to each earphone. It not only provides synchronicity of sound but also minimizes the delay, which is only 190 MS. This is especially important when watching videos and playing games. HUAWEI FreeBuds 3, in addition to three microphones, also received a bone conduction sensor. It recognizes when the user is speaking by analyzing in-ear vibrations and amplifies the voice during a phone conversation. Kirin A1 reads out extraneous noises and cuts them off so that the person on the other end can clearly hear the voice. Despite its compact size, the FreeBuds 3 has 14 mm dynamic drivers inside, which is noticeably larger than other similar models. There was also room for a camera that amplifies the bass. As a result, the engineers managed to achieve excellent sound for their class. Low frequencies are better than other headphones with a similar form factor. You don't have to turn the volume up to the limit - at the maximum, your ears will even feel uncomfortable. HUAWEI smartphone owners get a bonus when using FreeBuds 3 in the form of simpler primary sync. When you open the cover of the complete case where the headphones are stored and charged, a pop-up window automatically appears on the phone screen with an offer to connect. In the future, the connection will be established automatically. Battery life is an important parameter of a wireless accessory. FreeBuds 3 claims 4 hours of continuous music playback with four full charges from the case, which together gives 20 hours of autonomy. The case supports two types of charging - USB Type-C and fast wireless. In addition, headphones can replenish energy from smartphones with the reverse charging function. Especially before the holidays, HUAWEI released a limited version of the headphones. Red FreeBuds 3 will go on sale on February 7. They will be available in Huawei's branded stores and online stores, as well as in other online stores.
  15. HUAWEI has announced the global launch of the HMS Core 4.0 Suite of services, an alternative to Google's software package for Android devices. It will allow application developers to increase the efficiency and speed of software development, as well as simplify its further monetization. The fourth revision of HMS includes user authentication and scanning of various codes, geolocation services, security solutions, health monitoring, and gaming and other services. According to the company, using open APIs as part of HMS Core allows you to increase performance and reduce the power consumption of mobile devices. Universal operational support for services allows application developers to reduce costs and focus on implementing their own software solutions. Now more than 1.3 million developers have joined the Huawei ecosystem, and more than 55 thousand applications are integrated with the HMS Core platform. Earlier, Huawei representatives noted that applications created within the HMS ecosystem are popular in the Russian market, which has become the fifth-largest number of downloads from The AppGallery brand store, which already has an active audience of 390 million users per month.
  16. At the HUAWEI Developer Day conference, the head of the Chinese tech giant, Ren Zhengfei, announced that the half-billion threshold of active users of the company's products has been overcome. He also told reporters about the "plan B", which the vendor is ready to start in case of continued sanctions by the US government. According to the head of HUAWEI, for the survival of the company, it is necessary to prepare for the worst-case scenario in relations with the United States. He noted that the vendor already has 570 million active users and over 1.2 million registered software developers for the proprietary ecosystem. In addition, the flagship smartphone HUAWEI Mate 30 and new base stations for fifth-generation networks are already being assembled without American components. “We have a very ambitious“ Plan B ”. If the US does not allow its technology companies to supply us with products, we have other options. If these options become mature and stable, I don’t think that we will cooperate with companies from the USA in the future, ”said Ren Zhengfei in an interview with reporters. According to the head of HUAWEI, the company is able to become the largest seller of smartphones in the world, but it will take some time to achieve this goal. The next significant announcement of the vendor should be the flagship HUAWEI P40.
