  • Google is going to clean Google Play from outdated applications

At the end of 2017, Google announced plans to stop supporting outdated 32-bit Android applications, and now the company has shared new details and more accurate timing of this transition. However, the process runs the risk of being delayed, as the search giant is most loyal to the developers and owners of old devices.

From August 1 this year, Google will require developers to make all new Android applications and updates to existing ones 64-bit. This will probably be timed to coincide with the release of Android 10 Q. according to the company, such programs provide noticeably better performance when running on devices with 64-bit processors than 32-bit ones.

It is important that even after August, some developers will be able to continue to provide updates to 32-bit applications through Google Play. The list of exceptions includes games created on the basis of Unity 5.6 or an older version of this engine. No one is in a hurry and developers of applications for Wear OS and Android TV platforms that do not support 64-bit code. Another exception to the rule were applications for Android Pie or a newer version.

The final transition to 64 bits will take place in August 2021, after which Google will no longer display 32-bit programs in Google Play on devices with 64-bit processors. At the same time, Google Play will continue to support and display 32-bit applications on devices with 32-bit architecture.

Google has modified the algorithm for issuing the results of its proprietary search engine. Now it will be even easier to get a response to your request — the company has launched a new useful feature that can provide users with the necessary information from the Internet even faster.

Usually, when a request is made to Google, a quick response appears at the top of the search results page — a summary of data obtained from the site where the necessary information is published. These blocks are called highlighted descriptions and contain a link to the most popular page related to the search subject. After modifying the search engine, it will automatically highlight the key data corresponding to the query, right on the web page after the click. This allows you to quickly find the information you need without scrolling through the entire material.
If the search was performed using Google Assistant, the virtual assistant can read the highlighted description aloud. It usually consists of a text fragment, list, step sequence, or table, contains data about a specific search object, and includes information such as the title of the material and URL links.
According to Google, site owners do not need to take any additional actions for the new feature to work. If for some reason the search engine cannot select the desired content or the browser does not support the appropriate options, Google will simply open the page as usual.
The updated search engine algorithm was available to some users at the end of May, and will soon be active in all regions.

Currently, your own website is no longer a luxury, but a necessary tool for business promotion. However, the owners often monitor only the statistics of visits to their resource, lightly neglecting all other information. For effective work of a site, it is necessary to represent accurately what pages cause the greatest interest and where visitors do not even look, from where most conversions, etc.
To do this, a very useful tool was developed by Google – Google Analytics. This free service allows you to keep systematic statistics of attendance of the resource, getting the most detailed information.
Who is helpful to use Google Analytics
Business leaders: to find out what activities to promote products and services on the site have brought the maximum effect, to identify General trends and patterns of attendance, to determine the most valuable customer segments. Internet marketers: to get information about where visitors come from and how much time they spend on the site, what keywords attract potential customers the most, what types of advertising bring the maximum effect. Website developers: to understand why people leave the resource, on which pages they stop the longest, what search queries are used to find the site. Google Analytics reports can be configured both by the frequency of receipt (once a day, week, month, etc.) and by the parameters of Analytics. The main sections that are included in the report are as follows:
Traffic source; Visitors; Behavior; Content. Let's take a closer look at what information the Google Analytics counter offers us.
Visitors: the number of visitors, the country and city of their residence, how many new and how many repeat visits, the average number of views of individual pages and the entire resource as a whole, the duration of stay on this site, the intensity of work with individual pages, bounce rate, which browser, operating system and language are set by default visitor. The last point is very important for the correct choice of the language of advertisements. If desired, you can compare this data with similar information about competitors' websites.
Traffic sources: the volume of direct traffic (visitors who came to the site by directly entering the address or bookmark), sites from which transitions to this resource were made, search engines (how many people went to the site according to the search results). A lot of analytical information gives statistics and characteristics of keywords for which visitors found this resource. You can find information on each word separately – how many people from what city came to the site, and many other useful information. Content: the duration of the page view, the number of failures, the number of exits from the pages. This information will allow you to optimize the content of the site, find out what information seems most interesting to visitors, and which pages need to improve or completely removed. Behavior: In this context, these are pages that are opened to visitors after certain actions - registration, purchase of goods, order of services, etc. Therefore, the number of triggered "goals" directly shows the effectiveness of the site, as far as it corresponds to the business objectives. Google Analytics, in this case, will count the number of clicks on each banner or link, which will give full information about which of them is the most effective, and which can be completely removed from the site. Comparison of the counter goals and the total number of visitors will calculate the conversion of the resource, which is one of the most important information about its work.
To connect this wonderful tool to your website, you need to put on the pages that you want to track, a special HTML - code. It will be assigned to the site after registration in Google Analytics.

Volvo in the framework of the brand Polestar presented its first all-electric car Polestar 2, declared as a competitor Model 3 from Tesla Elon Musk. A sedan is developed in cooperation with Google — it uses a special version of the Android operating system with integrated services of the search giant.

Polestar 2 equipped with two electric motors 300 kW (about 408 horsepower), which give 660 N·m of torque. Acceleration from 0 to 60 mph (almost 100 km/h) takes less than 5 seconds. Battery capacity is 78 kWh, which, according to the manufacturer, enough for a cruising range of 440 km. For comparison, Tesla Model 3 at a price of $42 900 has rear-wheel drive and a range of 420 km. More "Tesla" for $70,000 coming with all-wheel drive, a power reserve of 500 km and acceleration to "hundreds" of 3.5 seconds

The engine start button is integrated directly with the driver's seat. Thus, the car is automatically started when the owner gets into it. The control is carried out through an 11-inch touch screen, which displays data about the electric car and integrated Google services: Google Maps, Google Play Music and Google Assistant with voice control. Supports connecting Android and iOS devices. In addition, it acts as a smartphone Bluetooth-key to open Polestar 2.

The start of production of Polestar 2 is planned for 2020. Within 12 months, only the Launch Edition with all-wheel drive at a price of $63,000 will be available. Subsequently, the price of the car will drop to $45 000 for the basic equipment. You can buy an electric car through the official website of the company in China, USA, Canada, Great Britain, Germany, the Netherlands, Norway, Sweden, and Belgium.

In February, due to a surge in fraud activity, Google suspended the placement and updating of paid extensions in the official online store of the Chrome browser. In order to protect users, the company announced stricter rules to clear the platform of outdated and insecure applications that mislead people.

Google explains that recently the store has been flooded with spammers and scammers. Most often, their extensions do not perform any useful functions and are designed to attract attention to certain services and products.
New rules for placing extensions in the Google Chrome store:
It is forbidden to create duplicate extensions with different names and the same content. Extensions are not allowed to use "key spam" methods to populate metadata fields with multiple terms to improve search results. Developers may not use misleading, incorrectly formatted, irrelevant, excessive, inappropriate, or non-descriptive metadata. It is forbidden to artificially increase the product rating in any way, including through paid services. It is forbidden to place extensions that have only one purpose: to launch a web page or application. All extensions that abuse browser notifications to send spam, ads, or other messages to users are prohibited. If extension developers don't fix their products in accordance with the new rules, they will be automatically removed from the Chrome store after August 27.
