A month after the release of the first version of Android 11 for developers, Google released an updated build of the mobile OS, which received a number of innovations. In addition to various security fixes, the company introduced other useful features, including a dynamic display refresh rate, the ability to block spyware activity of applications, and advanced protection against telephone scams.
One of the important innovations in the build of Android 11 Developer Preview 2 was the support for bendable displays by the mobile OS interface out of the box. Until recently, developers had to independently create software that records the position of such screens. Now the "green robot" will be able to detect this automatically, and even intermediate bending angles will be recognized.
The operating system has also integrated an API for determining connections to the 5G network. In this case, the corresponding icon will appear on the device screen. There is also support for the technology of detecting phone number substitution by scammers and spammers.
Another important feature of Android 11 DP2 is automatic control of the display refresh rate, which will decrease to save battery power when running undemanding applications.
Finally, the eleventh version of the mobile OS has a function to lock the camera and microphone in the background, and for the specified applications, you can save the specified setting at the same time or by default.
Users of Android 11 Developer Preview 1 can already update the operating system over the air, and owners of Google Pixel smartphones of the second revision and newer can download the system image via the Android Flash Tool. Earlier it became known that the first three versions of the build are intended for specialists and are not recommended for installation by ordinary users.
