Continuing to develop its own mobile operating system, Google is constantly expanding the functionality of Android. Developers from the XDA Developers forum managed to find information about a new opportunity that owners of smartphones and tablets based on this OS will be able to get in the future. It is noteworthy that it duplicates the functionality that has been available on game consoles for several years.
We are talking about the possibility of launching applications and games during their download from the Google Play store. The incremental file system can become part of new versions of Android. Thus, the user will be able to run "heavy" games, without waiting for the download to finish and install them on the device. This is how this mechanism is implemented on game consoles.
The developers managed to find a reference to a Linux virtual file system that allows the application to run while the resource files continue to load over the network.
According to insiders, the new feature is now being actively tested on Google Pixel 4 XL smartphones. As for the release date of such a "hot launch", it can take place in Android 12, that is, not earlier than 2021.
