  • Samsung Galaxy S10 and Galaxy S10+ features and specifications

The new line of flagship Samsung Galaxy S10 smartphones is officially presented. For the anniversary tenth "galaxy" South Korean manufacturer has prepared not only a completely new design but also the most advanced technical filling. For the first time in the series, the company showed four devices: Galaxy S10, its larger "brother" Galaxy S10+, the younger model Galaxy S10E, as well as a version with support for 5G.

"The Galaxy S10 builds on the series' rich heritage and embodies breakthrough innovations in display technology, camera, and performance. Four premium devices, each created for a certain type of users, will allow Samsung to strengthen its leadership positions, opening a new era of smartphone technologies," said Dong Jin Koh, President and head of it and Mobile Communications division of Samsung Electronics.

Traditionally, Samsung changes the design of flagships every two years. After the "limitless" display in the Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S9, the manufacturer used the so-called Infinity-O screen with a round hole for the front camera in the "tenth galaxy". Great Galaxy S10 Plus and even got a double front end with an elongated cutout under it. Details about the cameras will tell you later, but for now - more details about the displays.

Samsung remains true to itself and continues to use branded AMOLED-matrix with curved edges on the sides. Thanks to the reduced frame diagonal screen in the Galaxy S10 increased from 5.8 to 6.1 inches, and in the Galaxy S10 Plus - from 6.2 to 6.3 inches. At the same time, the dimensions of smartphones in comparison with their predecessors have not changed. Front and rear both models are protected by tempered glass Gorilla Glass 6, which has become more than 35% stronger than the fifth generation. Thanks to tüv Rheinland's certified Eye Comfort technology, the display reduces the amount of blue light emitted without reducing image quality and without the use of filters. Displays with this technology are called Dynamic AMOLED.

An important and long-awaited innovation: the fingerprint scanner is now built directly into the display. The sensor works on the basis of ultrasonic technology, which is much more accurate and safer than optical. Such a sensor cannot be fooled by a photo, and it easily reads even a wet or dirty finger. In addition, users can access the authorization method by scanning the face.

The Galaxy S10 got a triple main camera. For normal photos, the new galaxy offers a 12-megapixel sensor with a replaceable f/1.5-f/2.4 aperture. The second 12-megapixel f/2.4 sensor, paired with a telephoto lens with a 2x optical zoom, is good for portrait shots. The third 16-megapixel module with f/2.2 aperture and 123° viewing angle is designed for wide-angle images. The same set is used in the Galaxy S10 Plus.

Function sverhzaryadnogo shooting video with a frequency of 960 frames per second, which appeared in Galaxy S9, has been improved and now allows you to record video to choose a higher resolution, or in standard quality, but twice as long in time — from 0.8 to 27.6 seconds. In addition, it became possible to choose the moment of slowing down on the already shot video, which was not in the last generation.

The front camera is also noticeably pumped. Resolution increased to 10 MP, added the ability to record video in 4K/30 fps and HDR10+, which was not previously in any smartphone. The Galaxy S10 Plus has an additional 8 MP sensor for depth-of-field analysis, bokeh selfies and the ability to adjust the amount of blur.

Samsung is one of the largest memory manufacturers. Not surprisingly, the Galaxy S10 equipped with record volumes and RAM, and drives. The usual "S10" received up to 512 GB of built-in storage and up to 8 GB of RAM. In the Galaxy S10 Plus, the company went even further and offers a special version in a ceramic case with 1 terabyte of internal memory and 12 GB of RAM. At the same time, support for microSD memory cards has not gone away for those who want to get even more space for data storage.

In the "S10" there are new features of artificial intelligence, which automatically optimize the temperature of the battery, CPU, RAM and the entire smartphone as a whole and over time "teach" the gadget to work more efficiently, based on patterns of user behavior. AI allows you to quickly run frequently requested applications, based on data about the use of the device. For mobile gamers, the Galaxy S10 offers an evaporative cooling system and Dolby Atmos support for gaming mode. Moreover, it is the first mobile device optimized for Unity games.

The new Galaxy S10 and Galaxy S10 Plus are among the first in the market to support the new Wi-Fi 6 standard (known as 802.11 ax). Compared to 802.11 ac, the maximum data rate has increased by about 40%. In addition, Wi-Fi 6 can go to sleep when not in use, which should have a positive impact on the autonomy of smartphones. Also, the new standard provides an uninterrupted and secure connection by smoothly switching between Wi-Fi and LTE (the maximum LTE data rate reaches 2.0 Gbit/s) and also informs the user about potentially dangerous Wi-Fi networks.

In addition to all sorts of ways to optimize power consumption, Samsung has equipped new products with batteries of greater capacity than its predecessors: Galaxy S10 received a battery of 3400 mAh, and Galaxy S10 Plus — 4100 mAh. The devices use the updated technology of wireless charging, working in two directions. For example, the new Galaxy Buds wireless headphones can be charged directly from your smartphone by attaching them to the back cover.

Some manufacturers offer to completely abandon any holes in smartphones, but Samsung is in no hurry to get rid of the connectors. The Galaxy S10 has a USB Type-C for charging and a 3.5 mm audio output for connecting headphones. Like its predecessor, the kit includes a headset from AKG. Stereo speakers that support surround sound?
