  • Nubia Alpha: The Hybrid Watch Phone with flexible display

Some manufacturers of gadgets have already announced on MWC 2019 devices with flexible displays in various designs, but most of these models have received impressive dimensions. The Nubia brand presented at the technological exhibition its vision of a bendable device-a novelty called Nubia Alpha is made in the form of a bracelet and combines the size of a smartwatch with the functionality of a smartphone in a top configuration.

The feature of the new product is a flexible OLED display with a diagonal of 4 inches with a non-standard aspect ratio of 45: 9 at a resolution of 960x192 pixels. The manufacturer said that the screen can withstand up to 100,000 bends-this allowed to "stretch" the matrix on the outer surface of the strap of the wearable device. Since the sides of the screen when bending are out of sight of the owner, the device interface provides scrolling important information in the visible area.

For the performance of Nubia Alpha is responsible mobile platform Snapdragon Wear 2100 with support for 1 GB of RAM and flash drive 8 GB. The capacity of the built-in battery is 500 mAh-according to the developers, this is enough to provide up to two days of battery life of the gadget. On the side of the waterproof case, there are physical buttons to return to the main screen and activate the voice assistant.

List of features new items, as well as a fitness tracker, mobile payments and monitoring the quality of sleep, enables voice calls and text messaging when you purchase a version that supports eSIM. The device operates under the OS of its own development based on Android.

There is also the possibility of watching movies — in this case, you have to put up with the crop or black stripes because of the peculiar aspect ratio of the screen. Also, the gadget is equipped with a built-in 5-megapixel camera and a function of non-contact gesture control.
