  • Huawei P30 Pro: battery life and charge rate test

Huawei's new flagship received not only cool cameras but also a powerful stuffing. The Kirin 980 chipset is paired with a capacious 4200 mAh battery. The smartphone supports fast charging at 40 W, and at the same time is able to charge other devices. How is it with autonomy — not in words, but in deeds?

    Battery life: benchmark testing

In Geekbench 4 gadget scored 8207 points. This is higher than the result of Xiaomi Mi9, and significantly ahead of the flagships of past generations, such as the Galaxy Note 8. After three hours of testing, the battery of Huawei P30 Pro was discharged from 100% to 81%.

Load — so completely: during testing in the benchmark PCMark display brightness was raised to the maximum. Even in this mode, the smartphone showed good results — 7 hours and 9 minutes of the screen on.

Battery life: games and video playback

Real tests will best show how Autonomous the Huawei P30 Pro turned out. The first step was to start filming in 4K-resolution. The device was transferred to airplane mode, the brightness of the screen was reduced by half. The result is impressive: the charge dropped to 48% after only two hours of continuous video recording one after the other. With an active shooting while on vacation smartphone easy to handle, power bank to keep close is not necessary.

The next test — game. Playing Mortal Kombat with active Wi-Fi had little impact on the speed of energy consumption: 30 minutes of battles took only 4%. Injustice 2 for the same time "ate" 6%.

Traditional validation of autonomy includes video playback. Huawei P30 Pro scrolled full HD video format for 18 hours and 30 minutes. At the same time, the device was in airplane mode, and the brightness was set to 50% of the maximum. The indicator is worthy even taking into account the economical OLED-display. Samsung Galaxy S10+ in a similar test lasted a little less.

    Not only fast charging

Huawei P30 Pro supports fast wired charging up to 40W. This allows you to recharge the device literally "on the go". By means of the standard adapter, the smartphone replenished the battery up to 100% in exactly 60 minutes. There is also a wireless charging: with the help of memory, 15 W gadget charged from 50% to 100% for 1 hour 30 minutes.

Another interesting feature: the smartphone is able to charge other devices that support Qi. To do this, you need to enable the corresponding item in the battery settings, and then attach another gadget to the back of the Huawei P30 Pro — charging will start automatically. Checked this chip in the case, charging Samsung Galaxy Note9. The process cannot be called fast: for half an hour, the battery Note9 filled the capacity by only 10%. However, this function is convenient for charging accessories — wireless headphones and smartwatches.
