ASUS has introduced an updated line of gaming laptops ROG Strix based on Intel Core processors of the tenth generation. In addition to the powerful graphics of NVIDIA GeForce, laptops have advanced memory configurations with the ability to install up to three SSD drives, an impressive display refresh rate, and a powerful cooling system using liquid metal instead of traditional thermal paste.
One of the main features of the ROG Strix gaming laptop line is displays with an “e-sports” refresh rate of 240 Hz with a response time of 3 ms. The diagonal of the matrix of models of the starting series under the name G15 and G17 is 15.6 and 17 ”, respectively. The high scanning frequency ensures the smoothest picture even in dynamic scenes and reduces eye strain during long gaming sessions.
In the top-end configuration, new items are equipped with an eight-core Intel Core i7-10875H processor with 16 threads of execution and a maximum clock speed of 4.5 GHz. The manufacturer used liquid metal as the thermal interface, which provides efficient heat dissipation and the possibility of overclocking the CPU without fear of overheating.
For the graphic performance of the older model, the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2070 SUPER video card is equipped with 8 GB of GDDR6 video memory. To expand the built-in NVMe drive, the motherboard has three M.2 slots with the ability to combine two SSDs into RAID 0. The maximum amount of RAM DDR4-3200 is 32 GB. The series also includes more affordable modifications with the GeForce GTX 1650Ti, 1660Ti, RTX 2060 and RTX 2070 graphics cards.
Other features of the new products include the Wi-Fi 6 wireless module, a proprietary keyboard with a customizable Aura Sync backlight, and the ability to customize the LED elements on the case. The series of laptops is presented in three color options: black, blue and electric. The list of interface ports includes 3 USB 3.2 Gen 1 Type-A sockets, one USB 3.2 Gen2 Type-C, RJ-45, HDMI 2.0b, as well as a combined 3.5 mm audio jack for the headset.
More productive models of the ROG STRIX Scar series have got displays with a record scanning frequency of 300 Hz (3 MS) and I9-10980HK processors (8 cores/16 threads). A special version of the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2070 SUPER graphics adapter is notable for the ability to overclock up to 1540 Hz to increase gaming performance. The new products also received support for the instant configuration of the user profile using the Asus ROG Keystone 2 NFC keychain. The Younger devices in the series are equipped With GeForce RTX 2060 and RTX 2070 graphics adapters.
The flagship of the line is ASUS ROG STRIX Scar 17 GeForce RTX 2080 SUPER Edition. As the name suggests, the laptop with a 17.3-inch screen (300 Hz/3 MS) received the maximum configuration, including an Intel Core i9-10980-HK processor with a frequency of up to 5.3 GHz and a video card overclocked to 1560 MHz. At the same time, the thickness of its case is only 1.5 mm more than the base version. Six heat pipes are responsible for cooling the model. Dust and small particles are removed from the housing through specially designed tunnels in the fan housings and do not accumulate on the radiator fins.
Keystone II technology allows you to use an NFC keychain to speed up app launches and store secret files in a hidden section of the Shadow Drive. When you remove the gadget, the laptop can instantly switch to "invisible" mode - collapse all windows, mute the sound and log out of the windows account. The Cloud Profile function activates the user's personal settings from the ROG ID account on all compatible devices.
The price and start date of sales of all configurations of the updated line of ASUS ROG Strix laptops will be announced by the manufacturer later.
