At the end of February, the network appeared specifications and press-renders of the second generation of portable gaming laptop Win Max from the Chinese company GPD. After waiting for a three-week pause, the manufacturer officially introduced the new product, the key features of which were not only the actual characteristics of the hardware but also the original case design with an integrated gamepad.
GPD Win Max is "packed" in a very compact case. The gadget can easily be held with two hands: in this mode, it turns into a portable console. The similarity with the latter is enhanced by the gamepad, whose controls are spaced along the sides of the case. According to the manufacturer, the performance of the new product is enough to run AAA games with a frame rate of up to 60 fps.
GPD Win Max received an 8-inch IPS display, covered with a protective glass Corning Gorilla Glass 5. The maximum brightness of the matrix is 500 nits with a coverage of 90% DCI-P3. The Intel Core i5-1035G7 processor with proprietary cooling system and integrated graphics Intel Iris Plus 940, which, according to the developers, is comparable in performance with the discrete NVIDIA GeForce MX250 graphics card for the model’s performance.
Despite its compact size, GPD Win Max received good hardware specifications: 16 GB of LPDDR4 RAM with a clock frequency of 3733 MHz, NVMe-drive with a capacity of 512 GB, Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth 5.0, 60-watt fast charging that complies with the standard PD 3.0, as well as Thunderbolt 3 and HDMI 2.0b interface ports.
The laptop provides a change in performance modes depending on the task. In this case, the TDP level can take values of 15, 20 or 25 watts. The autonomy of the device, in this case, can be from 3 to 8 or up to 14 hours, depending on the load.
The manufacturer promised to announce the price and start date of sales of new items in April of this year.
