    At the end of February, the network appeared specifications and press-renders of the second generation of portable gaming laptop Win Max from the Chinese company GPD. After waiting for a three-week pause, the manufacturer officially introduced the new product, the key features of which were not only the actual characteristics of the hardware but also the original case design with an integrated gamepad.

    GPD Win Max is "packed" in a very compact case. The gadget can easily be held with two hands: in this mode, it turns into a portable console. The similarity with the latter is enhanced by the gamepad, whose controls are spaced along the sides of the case. According to the manufacturer, the performance of the new product is enough to run AAA games with a frame rate of up to 60 fps.

    GPD Win Max received an 8-inch IPS display, covered with a protective glass Corning Gorilla Glass 5. The maximum brightness of the matrix is 500 nits with a coverage of 90% DCI-P3. The Intel Core i5-1035G7 processor with proprietary cooling system and integrated graphics Intel Iris Plus 940, which, according to the developers, is comparable in performance with the discrete NVIDIA GeForce MX250 graphics card for the model’s performance.

    Despite its compact size, GPD Win Max received good hardware specifications: 16 GB of LPDDR4 RAM with a clock frequency of 3733 MHz, NVMe-drive with a capacity of 512 GB, Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth 5.0, 60-watt fast charging that complies with the standard PD 3.0, as well as Thunderbolt 3 and HDMI 2.0b interface ports.

    The laptop provides a change in performance modes depending on the task. In this case, the TDP level can take values of 15, 20 or 25 watts. The autonomy of the device, in this case, can be from 3 to 8 or up to 14 hours, depending on the load.

    The manufacturer promised to announce the price and start date of sales of new items in April of this year.

      GPD has announced a new "pocket" laptop called Pocket 2 Max. Chips compact laptop — productive filling, high-capacity battery, full physical keyboard with touchpad and the largest display in the line of the brand.

      The product was the biggest decision in the series. The gadget is equipped with an 8.9-inch display with a resolution of 2560x1600 pixels, a relatively large physical keyboard and touchpad. Under the "hood" is a powerful processor Intel Core m3-8100Y with a maximum clock speed of 3.4 GHz (base — 1.1 GHz). The amount of RAM LPDDR3 in various configurations is 8 or 16 GB, the capacity of the solid-state NVMe-drive — from 256 GB to 1 TB. The model is equipped with an active cooling system that prevents overheating of the iron filling.
      Magnesium alloy body allows keeping the device lightweight — with dimensions of 206 x 148 x 5.5 mm, the weight of the device is about 680 grams, even taking into account the complete 9200 mAh battery. GPD Pocket 2 Max was also the first laptop in the series with a built-in webcam with a resolution of 2 MP.

      It is expected that the laptop will go on sale under the 64-bit version of Windows 10. The release is scheduled for the second-third quarter of 2019, the price of the device will be announced later.

      As a successor to the Win 2 gaming mini-laptop, introduced back in 2018, GPD is preparing an updated Win Max model. Although the presentation of the new product has not yet taken place, insiders were able to get press renderings of the ultra-compact laptop, which concurrently plays the role of a large road console.
      In addition to the touch trackpad, atypically placed at the top of the device and the hardware keyboard, GPD Win Max is equipped with an original gamepad with joysticks. According to the idea of engineers, you can use the laptop as a portable console like the Nintendo DS.

      Despite the modest size, there is an impressive set of ports: HDMI, Ethernet, Thunderbolt 3, USB Type-C, two USB A and a card reader (microSD). There is a special switch on one of the sides of the device's body that allows you to activate either the keyboard input mode or the built-in gamepad and joysticks.
      GPD Win Max is based on the Intel Core i5-1035G7 processor and is equipped with Intel Iris Plus graphics. The display resolution is 1280x800 pixels with an approximate diagonal of 8-9 inches. The solid-state drive is connected via the M. 2 interface. The design of the laptop uses a cooling system represented by two fans.
      According to insiders, the presentation of GPD Win Max is somewhat delayed due to the coronavirus outbreak and production failures.
