  • WhatsApp came to push-button phones

WhatsApp Messenger is known to most owners of smartphones with touch screen, but its developers decided to go even further. The new version of the popular application became available to users of push-button devices, significantly expanding the capabilities of modern "dialers".

The new version of the messenger has been adapted for KaiOS — operating system for push-button devices, installed on low-end devices as an alternative to Android. WhatsApp for supported devices, including Nokia 8110 4G, Cat B35, Doro 7060, JioPhone, JioPhone 2 and MTN Smart, can already be downloaded from the KaiStore app store. The device must have at least 256 MB of RAM for installation and correct operation of the application.

Modification for KaiOS supports messaging, voice calls and end-to-end encryption. It is expected that starting from the third quarter of this year, all new devices on KaiOS will be sold with pre-installed WhatsApp, which has an audience of about one and a half billion people.
