A 70-year-old man died as a result of infection with the COVID-19 coronavirus in Kirkland, Washington, and is the second victim of coronavirus infection in the United States, King County Health authorities said.
As noted, he was hospitalized at Evergreen Health Hospital in Kirkland and died on Saturday. As in the first case, death is recorded in Washington state. The first victim was a woman aged almost 60, who was a "high-risk medical patient."
For the first time, coronavirus in the United States was also detected in Washington state.
In addition, the first case of a new coronavirus was identified in New York on Sunday. According to the Governor of the state Andrew Cuomo, the patient is a woman aged about 30 years, now she is in home quarantine.
"There is no reason for excessive concern - the overall risk remains low in New York," Cuomo added.
There are currently 74 cases of COVID-19 infection in the United States.
More than 88 thousand people have already been infected with the new coronavirus worldwide, most of them - over 80 thousand - are in China, where the outbreak began in December.
