  • The release date and cost of the first flexible smartphone HUAWEI Mate X

HUAWEI about six months periodically reminded that it is actively working on a smartphone with a flexible display. The Mate X model has been repeatedly shown to reporters but has not yet gone on sale. Now the company has announced the start date of sales and the cost of an unusual device.

Built on the basis of the Kirin 990 processor with a 4,500 mAh battery and support for fast 55-watt charging technology, the smartphone will go on sale on March 2020. Another version of the device is provided - with a Kirin 980 chip and a Barong 5000 modem. Its sales will start much earlier: it will be possible to purchase the new product from November 15 in China.

The gadget is equipped with an 8-inch flexible display. When closed, the user receives a 6.6-inch screen in front and a 6.38-inch screen in the back. Unlike the Samsung Galaxy Fold, the Mate X can be bent almost 360°.

The cost of the HUAWEI Mate X with 8 GB of RAM and 512 GB of internal memory is $ 2,400, which is slightly more expensive than the direct competitor Samsung Galaxy Fold, for which the South Korean company is asking for almost $ 2,000.
