
The number of deaths in Italy due to infection with the COVID-19 coronavirus has reached 107 people, the total number of confirmed cases of infection was 3089, the head of the country's civil defense service Angelo Borrelli told reporters on Wednesday.
According to him, the leadership in the number of infections continues to be held by the Lombardy region (a total of 1820 cases of infection, 300 detected in the last day), Emilia-Romagna (a total of 544 cases of infection, 124 detected in the last day) and Veneto (a total of 360 cases of infection, 53 detected for the last day).
In total, infections were detected in 20 regions of Italy. From positive statistics, Borrelli noted that Italian doctors have already managed to cure 276 people.
Due to the unfavorable epidemiological situation in Italy, it was decided to close all educational institutions in the country until March 15.
According to the World Health Organization (WHO), Italy is now one of the most epidemiologically disadvantaged countries along with South Korea and Iran.
