  • The number of confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Kyrgyzstan doubled in a day

    The number of Kyrgyz citizens infected with the coronavirus has reached 12 people, the day before it was known about six cases, Deputy Minister of Health of the Republic Tolo Isakov said at a briefing on Saturday.

    "On the morning of March 21, six more cases of coronavirus infection were detected," Isakov said.

    The Minister said that one case of COVID-19 was detected in the Batken district of the Batken region, five cases-in the Suzak district of the Jalal-Abad region. According to him, the patients are isolated, they are in a satisfactory condition, there is no fever and cough.

    “1630 people who were in contact with the infected coronavirus in the Suzak district and 700 people in the Nookat district were identified,” Isakov noted.

    The Ministry of Health has changed the algorithm of actions against the background of an increase in the number of cases. So, now those who arrived from abroad will be placed in hospitals only if they have symptoms - cough, fever. If there are no signs of the disease, the citizen is placed in an observation room at home.

    The first cases of coronavirus infection in Kyrgyzstan became known on March 18. The disease was diagnosed in three men who returned from Saudi Arabia after performing the small Hajj. On Friday, the coronavirus was confirmed in three more people - women 67, 71, 77 years old.

    On March 19, Kyrgyz authorities announced plans to close the airspace to all countries except Russia to prevent the spread of coronavirus infection in the country.

    In the Suzak district of the Jalal-Abad region of Kyrgyzstan and the Nookat district of the Osh region, where cases of coronavirus infection were detected, an emergency regime was introduced with restrictions on entry and exit from the district.
