  • RF 24-240mm F4-6.3 IS USM: Canon introduced a compact 10x zoom lens

Canon has expanded the RF lens family with the new RF 24-240mm F4–6.3 IS USM, designed specifically for EOS R cameras. It is compact in size and light in weight and offers a focal length range of 24-240mm and 10x zoom.

The RF 24-240mm F4–6.3 IS USM model became the second lens of the brand released in 2019 and offers the largest in the RF zoom series. It is compact in size and weighs only 750 grams, which is extremely small given the range of focal lengths covered. With 10x magnification, large focal lengths and a maximum aperture of f/4-6.3 lens adds camera capabilities. The focal length of 24 mm is suitable for group shots, natural and urban landscapes, and in the teleposition of 240 mm, portraits, pictures of events, sports competitions or wild animals from a medium distance are obtained.

With a large cross-notch focus/control ring and a zoom ring with locking capability and a 100° rotation range, the lens gives you full control over the shooting. The large diameter and short working length of the RF bayonet allow to design lenses with large rear elements, which ensures the highest possible image quality.

The image stabilization system compensates for five exposure levels. In addition, this is the first full-frame lens where dynamic stabilization is implemented. Thanks to her, the photographer can count on clear shots when shooting with hands, even at long exposure. The Nano USM autofocus drive combines the advantages of the STM system and the USM ring motor, providing 88% horizontal and 100% vertical autofocus with Dual Pixel CMOS AF technology.

Ambassador Canon, sports and action photographer Richard Walch recently made a 12-day trip along the coast of Norway from Bergen to Kirkenes. During the tour, he used a new RF 24-240mm F4–6.3 IS USM lens.

"I decided to take this lens on a trip to fully test its capabilities. The task was to shoot opposite scenes: the shore from the water and the water from the shore. Knowing about the wide possibilities of this lens, I planned to use it for spontaneous shooting. The beauty of Norway is fascinating. Once in such a majestic place, it is impossible not to shoot landscapes. This lens is the perfect travel companion and a great choice for photographers just starting out with the EOS R system: it's compact and lightweight, yet offers uncompromising quality. For those who would like to expand the creative possibilities available when shooting on the go, I highly recommend RF 24-240mm F4–6.3 IS USM," Richard Walch said.

Key features of RF 24-240mm F4–6.3 IS USM lens:

    • Focal length range: 24-240 mm
