  • Qualcomm Snapdragon 7c vs Qualcomm Snapdragon 8c - Qualcomm introduced new Snapdragon processors for Windows laptops

Following the latest mobile platforms for smartphones and AR-devices, Qualcomm has introduced two new solutions for "long-playing" laptops on Windows 10 class Always Connected PC. The new chips, called Snapdragon 7c and Snapdragon 8c, will be a more affordable alternative to the 8cx model, which debuted in late 2018.

7-nm mobile platform Snapdragon 8c is equipped with a processor with Kryo 490 cores and a graphics accelerator Adreno 675. The new product is built on the basis of Snapdragon 8cx and provides, according to the developers, a 30 percent increase in performance compared to the single-chip platform Snapdragon 850. The built-in Snapdragon X24 LTE modem is responsible for network connectivity, but electronics manufacturers will also be able to connect the Snapdragon x55 modem to the 5g platform.

The claimed performance of the Hexagon 690 DSP module responsible for AI algorithms is up to 6 trillion operations per second. Snapdragon 8c is positioned as a solution for machine learning and enterprise use. All versions of Windows 10 (Enterprise, Pro, Home) and device location monitoring are supported.
