  • Qualcomm resumes supplies of components for HUAWEI

Earlier Qualcomm was forced to stop supplying its products to the partner from China in connection with the beginning of the trade war between the US and China. But later CEO of Qualcomm Steven Mollenkopf said that the cooperation with HUAWEI resumed.

“Every American company is subject to government regulation of trade to a certain extent. But in fact, Qualcomm has already resumed deliveries of products commissioned by HUAWEI and is trying in every possible way to ensure deliveries in the future, ” Mollenkopf said.

Now American companies must obtain a special license from the US government to trade with "sanctioned" Chinese companies. According to industry analysts, in 2018, HUAWEI spent about $11 billion on the purchase of components from such American companies as Qualcomm, Micron and Intel.

It is worth noting that the flagship smartphones HUAWEI Mate 30 and Mate 30 Pro are based on the company's own chipsets called Kirin 990. Due to US sanctions, the devices also debuted without Google services - however, this did not become a problem for potential owners of new products.
