Shortly after the announcement of Redmi's intention to release a smartphone with a 108-megapixel camera manufactured by Samsung in the "arms race" joined the Taiwanese company Omnivision. According to network sources, the new brand of sensors with a resolution of 100 MP will compete with the decisions of the South Korean brand and will make their debut in the composition of the available lines of smartphones.
About the release of relatively inexpensive sensors, OmniVision said in his Twitter-blog Indian insider Andhas Abhor. According to him, the Taiwanese sensor will be inferior to the new Samsung in terms of aperture ratio and the number of effective pixels but will cost manufacturers much cheaper. He argues that soon the camera with a huge resolution by modern standards will appear in budget smartphones.
The source does not give the release date of the new sensor and the list of smartphone models that will be the first to receive 100-megapixel cameras.
