Mail.ru Group is negotiating with Huawei about the possibility of pre-installing its own applications and services on smartphones of the Chinese vendor, Kommersant reports. As part of the partnership, the affiliate program can touch more than a million devices sold on the Russian market.
According to media reports, the company has already confirmed the fact of negotiations on cooperation with a Chinese manufacturer. Raiffeisenbank analyst Sergei Libin suggests that Huawei’s smartphones will primarily be set up with the Mail.ru Group email client and messenger and, with some probability, VKontakte social network clients and AliExpress marketplace.
Quote“Yes, we can confirm the negotiations. We are interested in our products being presented on the maximum number of platforms, including Huawei. Mail.ru Group is open to all mutually beneficial partnerships, ”the Mail.ru Group said in an interview with TASS reporters.
In addition to its own mail service, Mail.ru Group's assets include VKontakte and Odnoklassniki social networks, TamTam and ICQ instant messengers. Earlier this year, the company announced the launch of the Atom browser and began testing the Maroussia voice assistant.
According to Kommersant, Huawei is also discussing with Yandex the possibility of integrating Alice's voice assistant into its smartphones. Earlier, Russian media reported on negotiations at the interstate level on the installation of the Russian operating system "Aurora" on Huawei smartphones.
Representatives of Huawei declined to comment.
