    In China, since the beginning of the COVID-19 coronavirus epidemic, 80270 cases of the disease have been registered, of which 2981 people have died and almost 50 thousand have recovered, the State Health Committee of China reported.

    Over the past day, 38 deaths from coronavirus have been registered in the country, and 119 new cases have been identified. 37 people died in the Hubei province epicenter, one in the Inner Mongolia autonomous region.

    In Hubei, 115 new patients were registered the past day. Since the beginning of the epidemic in December last year, 2,871 people have died in the province, 67,332 have become ill, and more than 38,500 patients have been treated and discharged from hospitals.

    In total, 27.4 thousand people remain in medical institutions on the mainland, and the condition of more than 6.4 thousand patients is assessed as severe. Almost 50 thousand people recovered and left medical institutions.

    In Chinese territories outside the mainland, 152 cases have been registered since December last year: in Hong Kong, 100 (with two deaths), in Macau - ten, and in Taiwan, 42 (one death).

    In South Korea, the number of new COVID-19 cases was more than four times higher over the past day.
