March 24 - In mainland China, 78 new cases of coronavirus infection were registered over the past day, 74 of them in people who arrived from abroad, the State Health Committee of China reported on its official website.
Of the “imported” cases of the disease, 31 were identified in Beijing, nine in Shanghai, four in Tianjin, and one in Chongqing. In the provinces of Guangdong - 14, Fujian - five, Jiangsu - three, Zhejiang and Sichuan - two each, Shanxi, Liaoning and Shandong - one at a time. In total, there are 427 infected people who arrived in China from abroad.
Seven people who were previously infected with the coronavirus died within a day in the country, all in the capital of Hubei province, Wuhan, which is considered the epicenter of the spread of the infection.
Since December, the number of victims of the coronavirus in the country was 3,277 people, 81,171 cases of the disease were registered. Of these, 3,160 died in Hubei and 67,801 became ill.
On the mainland, 4.7 thousand people are currently being treated in medical institutions, and the condition of 1.5 thousand patients is assessed as severe. More than 73 thousand people recovered.
In Chinese territories outside the mainland, 576 cases have been registered since December last year: in Hong Kong - 356 (with four deaths), in Macau - 25, in Taiwan - 195 (two deaths).
