Huawei has announced the postponement of the release of the Mate X smartphone. The vendor’s press service assured users that the gadget will still debut before the end of this year and talked about some features of the next version of the bendable device.
According to Huawei, the retail debut of the Mate X will be held in November. As a kind of “compensation for waiting”, customers announced the appearance of a new version of the bendable smartphone with additional displays next year, which are expected to appear on the outside of the case.
The model shown at the press conference is slightly different from the option shown by the Huawei CEO earlier - the device received a modified Falcon Hinge display pivot mechanism and a thinner lock button.
Representatives of the vendor also spoke about early modifications of the device, which were ultimately considered unsuccessful. In particular, the manufacturer had to refuse to replace the steel frame with aluminum because of the lower wear resistance of the latter.
Other promising ideas didn’t go into the series: for example, a glass cover on the back panel or a retractable roll-up display. The final revision of the Mate X will use a bendable plastic-coated display since truly flexible glass has not yet hit the market.
