At the beginning of November at the Web Summit 2019 conference, HUAWEI introduced developers and users to its own HMS platform, which is designed to replace Google services in the company's new smartphones. Having finalized each component of the project, the company announced the launch of the project and spoke about its regional availability.
HUAWEI services are already available to users in China who can install HUAWEI Mobile Services and HMS Core applications in beta testing. They offer integration with HUAWEI accounts, an integrated payment system, an electronic wallet, and a notification service. This package of services and applications is positioned as an alternative to Google software for smartphones.
According to HUAWEI, more than a million developers already use the HMS services suite, and the platform itself offers more than 45 thousand games and applications. According to company representatives, by the end of 2019, HUAWEI will also present within its own ecosystem a navigation service, game platform, and messenger - all this will work in the coming days. The second region of HUAWEI Mobile Services presence will be India.
“We have an HMS and we are trying to create a mobile ecosystem. Most key applications, such as navigation, payments, games, and messaging, will be ready by the end of December, ”said Charles Peng, CEO of HUAWEI India.
To encourage developers, HUAWEI previously created a special fund with a capital of $1 billion. Thus, the Chinese corporation intends to solve the problem of unavailability of Google services on its new smartphones and offer an alternative to partially blocked American services in China.
