The Portuguese government has confirmed the first case of coronavirus infection in the country, according to the Portuguese RTP channel, citing the country's Ministry of Health.
The disease was detected in a man who had previously been on vacation in the north in Italy. He is 60 years old, he turned to doctors on February 29 for help.
In addition, initial tests showed that another man who recently visited Valencia in Spain on a work trip could have contracted the virus. Currently, doctors are conducting a re-diagnosis.
Both men live in the city of Porto in Northern Portugal.
