  • Elon Musk "pump" Tesla electric cars before the end of the year

An upgrade is required not only computers but also other smart electronics. The head of Tesla Elon Musk, answering questions from users, said when the company will begin to update the chips of their cars Model S, X and 3s. Such modernization in the future will allow owners of electric cars to switch to full autopilot.

According to the founder of the company, the replacement of chips should begin in the fourth quarter of this year. Earlier, Musk said that the upgrade will be free for those who purchased the software package for Autonomous control Full Self-Driving worth $6000. It is assumed that in the future the owners of electric vehicles will be able to completely withdraw from the management — when it will be ready automation. It will be enough to name the final address and no longer pay attention to the road.

The Tesla chip, introduced in April, is a necessary element to achieve this goal. Since March, they are equipped with new Tesla Model X and S, and from April — and Model 3. Tesla began selling electric cars with an advanced set of hardware 2 electronics back in October 2016: it was expected that it would provide the technical capability of fully Autonomous driving with the appropriate computer hardware and software.
