In China, the presentation of the country's first prototype of a magnetic levitation train capable of traveling at speeds up to 600 km/h was held. The press and invited guests were able to visit the cabin and learn about plans to launch a new mode of transport.
The demonstration of the train took place on May 23 in the Chinese city of Qingdao in the East of the country. The use of magnetic levitation technology allows the train to move through the air due to the electromagnetic field. The lack of friction on the surface of the rail allows it to develop high speed.
According to Ding Sansan, head of research and development department of the train, the presented prototype has reached static levitation and is in excellent condition. He said that currently, the manufacturer is building experimental and pilot production centers for the production of high-speed trains on a magnetic cushion. It is planned that the first samples will be used in the second half of this year.
On the basis of the presented prototype, capable of accelerating to 600 km/h, in 2020, an engineering sample with five cars will be released, which should pass all tests by 2021. If successful, high-speed trains will run throughout the country.
