  • Boeing tested an unmanned helicopter with impressive features

In 2009, the American company Boeing signed a contract for the supply of Austrian unmanned S-100 helicopters as part of a tender. For a long time, aircraft were used during reconnaissance operations. In the same week, exercises were held, during which the drone delivered the cargo in close to combat conditions.

S-100 manufactured by the Austrian company Schiebel. To demonstrate its capabilities, the helicopter autonomously delivered ammunition and other equipment to the indicated point for the military, thus proving its effectiveness not only as a scout.

Despite its rather modest dimensions (3.1 meters long and 1.2 meters wide), the UAV is capable of speeds up to 190 km/h, and the maximum flight range is 180 kilometers. Moreover, he is able to stay in the air for more than 6 hours, carrying a cargo weighing 34 kg. The maximum burden weight is 50 kg.

It is reported that the helicopter is able to move both autonomously and with the help of the operator. S-100 is a multi-functional drone that can be used not only in the military but also in other areas: on power lines, in forestry and agriculture, as well as in the cinema.
