Until now, when purchasing compact headphones, users had to choose between the noise isolation of in-channel plug models and the comfort of earbuds. HUAWEI was the first to combine the advantages of two form factors in one accessory.
How was it before?
In-ear headsets are often equipped with silicone tips that fix them deep in the ear canal. Thus, better sound insulation is achieved. However, from the continued use of such models, the ears begin to get tired and even hurt. This problem is not in the in-ear headphones, because they conveniently lie in your ear due to their anatomical shape. However, the noise insulation in them is simply zero. On a crowded street or in the subway, you have to turn up the volume to the maximum in order to somehow hear the music or the other person. Therefore, when choosing a headset had to sacrifice convenience or quality.
What did HUAWEI do?
The Chinese tech giant combined the seemingly incompatible. Completely wireless FreeBuds 3 made in the format of open liners. At the same time, they support the function of active noise reduction, which was not previously offered on the market. To do this, they had to radically revise the headphone device and introduce a number of new technologies.
HUAWEI engineers conducted many experiments, studying in detail the structure of the ear canals of a large number of users. So it was possible to understand what should be universal headphones that can be used comfortably for many hours. Even people's posture and habits associated with using headsets were taken into account. Then the noise was analyzed in various scenarios: flying in an airplane, traveling in the subway, being in a noisy room, and so on. The algorithm was trained to effectively deal with them, cutting off sounds up to 15 dB. For example, FreeBuds 3 adjusts the noise reduction function depending on the shape of each user's auditory channel.
What technologies are at the core of FreeBuds 3?
The basis of the HUAWEI FreeBuds 3 is the proprietary Kirin A1 processor. It supports Bluetooth 5.1 and 5.1 LE protocols, providing a fast and stable wireless connection. HUAWEI also applied isochronous dual-channel technology to simultaneously transmit the signal to each earphone. It not only provides synchronicity of sound but also minimizes the delay, which is only 190 MS. This is especially important when watching videos and playing games.
HUAWEI FreeBuds 3, in addition to three microphones, also received a bone conduction sensor. It recognizes when the user is speaking by analyzing in-ear vibrations and amplifies the voice during a phone conversation. Kirin A1 reads out extraneous noises and cuts them off so that the person on the other end can clearly hear the voice.
Despite its compact size, the FreeBuds 3 has 14 mm dynamic drivers inside, which is noticeably larger than other similar models. There was also room for a camera that amplifies the bass. As a result, the engineers managed to achieve excellent sound for their class. Low frequencies are better than other headphones with a similar form factor. You don't have to turn the volume up to the limit - at the maximum, your ears will even feel uncomfortable.
HUAWEI smartphone owners get a bonus when using FreeBuds 3 in the form of simpler primary sync. When you open the cover of the complete case where the headphones are stored and charged, a pop-up window automatically appears on the phone screen with an offer to connect. In the future, the connection will be established automatically.
Battery life is an important parameter of a wireless accessory. FreeBuds 3 claims 4 hours of continuous music playback with four full charges from the case, which together gives 20 hours of autonomy. The case supports two types of charging - USB Type-C and fast wireless. In addition, headphones can replenish energy from smartphones with the reverse charging function.
HUAWEI FreeBuds 3 is the company's flagship audio product. Headphones are simply packed with technologies that improve sound quality and voice communication, protect your hearing and cut out the noise.
Especially before the holidays, HUAWEI released a limited version of the headphones. Red FreeBuds 3 will go on sale on February 7. They will be available in Huawei's branded stores and online stores, as well as in other online stores.
