ASUS barely managed to announce a platform for a gaming smartphone ASUS ROG Phone 2, selecting the Snapdragon 855 Plus as the processor, as an unannounced gadget appeared in the base of the Geekbench performance test.
In single-core mode, ASUS ROG Phone 2 with 12 GB of RAM scored 3428 points, and in multithreaded managed to get to the mark of 11 103, ahead of direct competitor Xiaomi Black Shark 2 almost 400 points. The base frequency of the Snapdragon 855 Plus processor is specified at 1.78 GHz. Last chip Snapdragon 845 overclocking mode showed stable performance at a frequency of 2.96 GHz.
In the Geekbench database, the smartphone is identified as the ASUS_I001DC model, although in the early leakage of Chinese regulators it is listed under the numbers ASUS_I001DA and ASUS_I001DB. There will be another version of the device labeled ASUS_I001D. The difference between the models is the power of wireless charging and the specifications of communication modules.
Models attributed to the display with a refresh rate of 120 Hz, improved compatibility with AR and VR solutions and performance gains of 15%.
To date, in the ranking of Geekbench ASUS ROG Phone 2 in absentia can be called not only the flagship representative of the family of chips Snapdragon 855 but also the fastest Android-smartphone of the present. The company plans to hold a presentation of the new product at the end of July. The estimated price of ROG Phone 2 starts from $650.
