To ensure the smooth operation of Android smartphones in the background of the system, Google Play services are constantly functioning. A recent update has led Google Play Services to rapidly drain some smartphones. And the number of users who have encountered this problem is growing every hour.
The AndroidPolice resource notes that over the weekend the editorial office received a lot of complaints about a sharp decrease in the autonomy of users ’smartphones. After analyzing what was happening, it was possible to find out that the Google Play Service version 18.3.82 became the culprit of the rapid jump in battery power.
Users began to publish screenshots in which the standard battery discharge monitoring utility shows that Google Play services have become one of the most avid energy consumers.
As a workaround, users offer to opt-out of Google Play Sevices updates by removing the update from the list of applications in the Google Play store. But this solution is not suitable for everyone since version 18.3.82 can go as a standard one in the next Android update, as happened with the HTC U11 smartphone. Attempts to perform a general reset of the device were unsuccessful - Google Play services consume up to 20% of the battery capacity.
Another solution to the problem is to install a test version of Google Play services. For this step, you must take part in testing on a special Google Play page, after which the update will appear in the store.
