AMD has introduced new mobile processors Ryzen Pro and Athlon Pro of the second generation. A total of four chips were shown with a maximum power consumption of about 15 W and integrated graphics Vega. They are designed for compact laptops and are suitable for work and entertainment.
The top model of the new line was Ryzen 7 Pro 3700U. It is a Quad-core solution (eight streams) with a base frequency of 2.3 GHz and a maximum of 4.0 GHz. The integrated graphics subsystem Vega 10 is responsible for working with graphics. Next comes the Ryzen 5 Pro 3500U with four cores (eight threads) and 2.1 GHz with a boost to 3.7 GHz. VEGA 8 acts as a graphics subsystem. Even more affordable solution was Ryzen 3 Pro 3300U with four cores (eight threads), 2.1 GHz with overclocking up to 3.5 GHz and graphics Vega 6. The Athlon Pro 300U — Junior model in the new line — has two cores (four streams) at 2.4 GHz (maximum 3.3 GHz) and integrated graphics Vega 3.
All four of the chip is made on a 12-nm process, whereas in the past generation were used of 14 nm.
In comparison with AMD Pro A12-98008 new Ryzen 7 Pro 3700U more powerful than 187% at the Central processor and 128% faster when running graphics applications. It also overtakes a bit in all the scenarios of its predecessor Ryzen 7 Pro 2700U.
Compared to the Intel Core i7-8650U, the new Ryzen 7 Pro 3700U shows a noticeable performance gain in terms of the CPU and GPU.
In the processing of pictures Ryzen 7 Pro 3700U 36% faster than its main competitor in the face of Intel Core i7-8650U. In the 3D simulation the difference is 64%, and in imaging — 258%. The situation is similar between Ryzen 5 Pro 3500U and Intel Core i5-8350U.
New mobile processors Ryzen Pro second generation graphics Vega provides more than 12 hours of battery life and up to 10 hours of continuous video playback.
For enterprise customers, AMD has equipped new chips with data encryption support and a dedicated coprocessor that supports all of the security features of Windows 10.
The release dates of the first devices on the Ryzen Pro 3000 are not yet reported, but HP and Lenovo have already announced the use of new chips in their future products.
