In addition to fans of Windows and macOS operating systems, there is an audience of users who remain loyal to free Linux. Popular resource Linux-Hardware has published a rating of the most popular distributions of this OS over the past five years.
Despite the transition of accessory manufacturers to the 64-bit platform, 32-bit assemblies are still popular in the Linux environment, accounting for 8% of all installations. Thanks to such OS versions it is possible to force to work the equipment for which there are no drivers under the 64-bit version of systems.
The most popular distribution is Ubuntu. It accounts for more than 40% of installations: 27.6% on Ubuntu 18.04 and 13.2% on Ubuntu 19.10. The second line is occupied by Rosa R11 (12.8%), and Mint closes the top three (9.5%).
One of the most commonly used graphical environments recognized GNOME (30.19%). In second place in popularity is KDE5 (14.42%). As a display manager, Linux fans choose X11.
According to previously published statistics, today Linux accounts for about 1.61% of computers. Microsoft remains the most popular system with a share of 75.47%. On the second line is the OS from Apple.
