NVIDIA has introduced the Upgrade 8.0 update package for the NVIDIA SHIELD TV streaming media player, including the original 2015 model. The update to Android 9.0 Pie includes new applications and a number of additional features regardless of the year of release of the mobile set-top box.
The list of built-in console applications was expanded by the Hulu streaming service client, Netflix, Prime Video, FandangoNOW, Twitch, Bravo, SYFY, E!applications were also updated!, USA, Yahoo! Finance, XUMO, Lifetime, MotoGP and many others. New features were also provided to beta testers of The GeForce NOW cloud service, whose catalog was expanded to 20 games, including Unknown Fate, SiNKR2, and Wonder Boy: The dragon's Trap.
The user interface of the media player has also changed: there are additional settings in the "Displays and sound" section, support for Match Content Color Space mode for TVs with HDR and the ability to change the refresh rate of the display in 720p resolution in individual applications. In the settings menu was added a function to quickly disable Bluetooth-accessories, the ability to turn off the power of USB-ports in sleep mode and the ability to connect to a Wi-Fi network 2.4 GHz or 5 GHz with a common SSID. In addition, the dynamic range for headphones connected via Bluetooth or USB has been extended.
The installation of the Shield Experience Upgrade 8.0 update will start today automatically and will be distributed in waves in different regions.
