Huawei founder and CEO Ren Zhengfei shared news about the proprietary operating system HongMeng OS, also known as Oak OS. According to him, it was originally developed not for smartphones. In addition, the first testers of the new OS expressed their opinion about the Chinese replacement of Android.
The head of Huawei said that initially HongMeng OS was developed not for smartphones, but to ensure the proper operation of telecommunication networks. With a delay of only 5 MS, it is suitable for the Internet of things and self-driving cars, where the speed of information and commands plays an extremely important role. According to Ren Zhengfei, the new operating system will help create a world in which everything is connected with each other. He also does not exclude that in the future the delay will be reduced to a value of less than 1 MS.
The network also has the first reviews of HongMeng OS. The sources did not provide screenshots, but expressed their opinion about the project. According to them, part of the functions at the moment simply does not work. It is not known whether they are disabled intentionally or not yet debugged.
Testers told about the key features of HongMeng OS:
- User interface: new boot animation with the ability to customize, support widget on the home screen, customizable lock screen, redesigned icons, more animations, more fast and smooth transitions, the new notification center, and enhanced search bar.
- Message reminder: a new reminder mode for unread messages has been added to the settings.
- Ringtones: new ringtones written specifically for HongMeng OS.
- Camera: the interface has become easier to understand, there are more controls in comparison with the capabilities of the camera app on the Huawei P30.
Earlier, Huawei CEO said that the system will be faster than Android and even iOS. The presentation of HongMeng OS can take place in August at the conference for developers organized by Huawei.
