    Shortly after the release of the third-generation AMD Ryzen flagship desktop processors, the first information on more affordable models of the popular line appeared on the network. According to insiders, the new Ryzen 5 series will compete with the ninth-generation six-core Intel Core due to the higher base frequency and increased the size of the "game" cache memory.

    BullsLab has published posters showing the detailed characteristics of unannounced new products. According to the source, AMD is preparing to release two CPU models at once: Ryzen 5 3500X and Ryzen 5 3500. Both processors will receive 6 cores and 6 threads. The clock frequency of both versions will be 3.6 GHz (4.1 GHz in boost mode), the thermal package is 65 watts. The difference between them will be in the cache size: 32 and 16 MB, respectively.

    According to the published images, the processors will receive 24 PCIe 4.0 lanes and support for 3200 MHz DDR4 RAM. The expected price of the Ryzen 5 3500X is $ 150, the Ryzen 5 3500 is supposed to cost $ 130. The exact date of the announcement of new products by the manufacturer has not been announced.

      About a year ago, it became known that AMD entered into a partnership with Samsung to develop mobile cores for new graphics accelerators. All that was known about the project was the use of RDNA architecture. Now, insiders have been able to find out more details, including release dates and test results.

      According to the data provided by network informants, the release of the finished commercial product is planned for 2021. At the same time, Samsung and AMD have already tested a lot of engineering versions of mobile graphics cores. The key direction for AMD remains the optimization of custom cores for their production using Samsung's 5-nanometer process.
      Moreover, the network even showed results of testing on the GFXBench platform, where the GPU from AMD demonstrated 181.8 fps in Manhattan 3.1, which is 13% higher than the results of the flagship graphics Adreno 650, which is part of the new platform Snpadragon 865 from Qualcomm. In the Aztec tests (normal and high-performance modes), AMD's engineering build results are 138.25 and 58 fps, respectively. The adreno 650 scores in similar tests are 35 and 20 fps, which is significantly inferior to AMD.
      It is expected that the new AMD graphics may become part of the Exynos 1000 platform, but official statements from the companies have not yet been received.

      AMD has announced the Ryzen 4000H line of mobile processors at CES 2020. Now, the chip maker has announced the launch of the flagship new series for gaming laptops called Ryzen 9 4900H. The main features of the new product are an impressive clock speed, support for fast RAM modules and high-performance built-in graphics.

      The 7nm mobile processor Ryzen 9 4900H received 8 physical cores and 16 threads of execution, as well as 12 MB of combined L2 and L3 cache memory. The base clock frequency of the new product is 3.3 GHz, in boost mode - up to 4.4 GHz. The default thermal package of the new chip is 45 watts and varies from 35 to 54 watts depending on the required performance in the current use case.
      The CPU memory controller supports operation with DDR4 (up to 3200 MHz) and LPDDR4 (up to 4266 MHz) modules. The new product is equipped with integrated AMD Radeon graphics with 8 Vega cores (512 stream processors) and a GPU clock frequency of 1750 MHz. The proprietary AMD SmartShift technology automatically optimizes the power consumption of the processor and graphics adapter when running demanding applications.
      A list of notebook models based on the AMD Ryzen 9 4900H processor will be announced later.

As a rule, certification with a regulator means that new products are ready for sales.

      Component specifications are not reported. Earlier, 12 AMD Radeon RX video card models were certified by the Eurasian Economic Commission. The world premiere of the updated line of  "red" GPUs is expected on March 5.
      Unannounced Apple MacBook Air and MacBook Pro 13 lit up in the benchmark
      Apple may update its line of branded tablets and laptops at a special event on March 31. A day ago, the network got a comparison table with the results of testing 13-inch MacBook Pro and MacBook Air.

      New items are based on 10-nm Intel Core i7-1068NG7, Core i5-1038NG7, and Core i3-1000NG4 processors. The latter will be installed in the MacBook Air - it is worth noting that the performance of the younger model will be significantly less than that of the Pro versions.
      All chips are notable for a reduced thermal package and are likely to be custom modifications that will not be found in Intel catalogs and products from other vendors. Other technical specifications and the price of upcoming MacBook models are not reported.
      Redmi will not release a smartphone more powerful than Xiaomi Mi 10 Pro
      Recently, Xiaomi presented a line Of Mi 10 smartphones. later, Xiaomi Vice President and General Manager of the Redmi brand, Lu Weibing, spoke on the social network Weibo about the upcoming new product called Redmi K30 Pro.       AMD has released two new models of EPYC processors. In parallel with the release of new products, representatives of the chipmaker announced the successful launch of the Hawk supercomputer with high performance, built on the second-generation EPYC platform.

      At the time, the second-generation AMD EPYC processor was the first X86 server processor equipped with 64 cores. The next addition to the family was AMD EPYC 7662, built on the Zen 2 architecture. The manufacturer calls it one of the fastest chips in the world, but with a more humane price tag compared to competitors.
      Another new product was the AMD EPYC 7532 processor, equipped with 32 cores with a total cache memory of 256 MB. This model is suitable for cache-sensitive workloads, providing each core with access to 8 MB of third-level cache memory. Compared to the Intel Xeon 6248 in the ANSYS CFX test, the AMD EPYC 7532 model managed to show 111% higher performance.

      As in the previously presented processors, both new products support 128 lines of PCIe 4.0 and RAM with a frequency of up to 3200 MHz. These chips are equipped with Dell EMC PowerEdge R6515, R7515, R6525, R7525 and C6525 servers, and they are expected to be used in HPE and Lenovo server solutions in the future.
      In addition to the presentation of two new processors, AMD participated in the opening of the Hawk supercomputer at the University of Stuttgart, Germany. With more than 5,000 computing nodes and a theoretical peak performance of 26 petaflops, the Hawk supercomputer has become one of the fastest high-performance computers in the world. It is designed to improve development in the areas of energy, climate, mobility, and health.

      The Hawk supercomputer, created in collaboration with HPE, leverages the performance and unique capabilities of AMD's second-generation EPYC 7742 processors, allowing scientists and researchers to perform more complex simulations faster than ever before. In addition, it uses the largest number of second-generation EPYC processors in Germany: this is one of the largest implementations of AMD server processors in the entire EMEA region.

    • OPPO Reno 3 review: Quad camera and lots of memory

      Last year's OPPO Reno 2 smartphone was remembered for its almost flagship characteristics. In the new generation, the emphasis has shifted - the role of the top-end device has been assigned to the Reno 3 Pro, and the standard “three” has become a mid-budget phone. However, Reno 3 received a powerful quad camera, high-quality screen, and a large amount of memory. We find out how good the new product is.

      Four rear modules and a 44-megapixel front-facing camera
      The main camera of Reno 3 received four modules, as in the top-end device of the series - Reno 3 Pro. However, there are some functions missing, such as interpolation up to 108 MP. All the blocks are arranged in a line on an islet that protrudes noticeably upwards if you wear the gadget without a cover.
      The main module has a 1/2-inch sensor with a resolution of 48 MP and a lens with an aperture of f/1.8. As usual, in standard mode, it produces 12-megapixel images, and if desired, you can take photos in full resolution - 48 MP. Telephoto is based on a 13-megapixel sensor and a lens with an f/2.4 aperture. The ultra-wide Angle is equipped with an 8-megapixel sensor and a lens with an f/2.2 aperture. Finally, the 2 MP sensor is designed to assess the depth of the scene.

      Telephoto, in addition to 2x optical zoom, provides a 5x hybrid zoom. The photo app allows you to quickly switch between four shooting modes: ultra-wide angle, 1x, 2x, and 5x.
      All modules can function together with HDR. This option works perfectly in Auto mode, improving both the light and dark tones of contrasting scenes. Artificial intelligence confidently recognizes the scenes being shot and selects settings.
      However, in non-standard lighting conditions, if you choose wide-angle optics, the color rendering will not always be accurate. This does not happen with the main module and the telephoto lens.

      Reno 3 shoots well in mixed and artificial lighting, as well as in the absence of light in the dark. In the most problematic cases, the Night program helps out. It combines several shots and works out all the tones of contrasting scenes. For shooting with manual settings, an Expert preset is provided.
      Multi-megapixel selfies
      The front camera is built into the display and is located in the middle of its upper edge, in the "drop". The camera is equipped with a 44-megapixel sensor and a wide-angle f/2.4 aperture lens. The default settings are set to a 40-megapixel resolution of images. And the full one is selected by pressing a separate on-screen button. The image quality in both cases is approximately the same. Sharpness appears only from a distance of about 30 cm, that is, for example, it is impossible to obtain a macro photograph of your eye. It seems that the calculation was made for shooting with outstretched hands or a selfie stick. For self-portraits, there are traditionally many beauty options: smoothing the skin, correcting the shape of the face and nose, eye size, and so on.

      Selfies in 44MP mode
      The smartphone records 4K videos at 30 fps. The supported format is Full HD with 30 and 60 fps, as well as slow-motion clips in HD and Full HD. During movie shooting, you can freely switch the zoom.
      In 4K mode at 30 frames per second, the gadget produces a picture with the correct color reproduction and high definition. But when working with hands, stabilization is noticeably lacking.
      Shooting in Full HD at 60 fps uses Ultra Steady Video 2.0 stabilization, which makes the picture smoother.
      Work and entertainment without lags
      Reno 3 is built on an eight-core MediaTek Helio P90 chipset. The new product in AnTuTu gives out figures comparable to the results of Kirin 970 and Snapdragon 712, and slightly ahead of Snapdragon 710. And in the Geekbench 5 rating - is on par with Snapdragon 845. This speed is sufficient to avoid slowdowns in any applications.
      8 GB of RAM allows you to run multiple programs simultaneously. The built-in fingerprint sensor acts quickly and accurately. There are no performance problems in games. In the popular WoT: Blitz with default graphics settings, the frame rate is confidently kept at 60 fps.

      The device has only one main speaker, which produces clear sound without distortion up to about 90% of the volume. Plus, there is support for Dolby Atmos. In this software add-on, you can add surround sound and a bit of bass - a great option for multimedia applications.
      Unfortunately, you will not be able to create a full stereo pair, because the speaker is quieter than the main one. But in Reno3 Pro two speakers shake as if you are holding a good Bluetooth speaker in your hands. Complete in-ear headphones deliver high-quality sound. Thanks to the audio jack, you can connect your favorite accessory.

      The built-in storage is not too large: 128 GB. But it is easy to increase it by using a microSD memory card. It is placed in a triple slot next to two nano-SIM cards. We had a 512 GB test card at hand - it worked without problems.
      High autonomy
      The gadget is powered by a 4025 mAh battery and supports VOOC 3.0 fast charging technology. A 20 W adapter and a complete cable during the test provided recharging at high speed. For example, from 33 to 78%, the battery was charged in 13 minutes, and up to 100% in 27.
      An hour-long shootout in WoT: Blitz (display brightness - 50%) consumes 11 percent of the battery. That is, without going to the outlet, it is about 9 hours of offline gaming. In Flight-mode, with the same brightness, about 4.4% of the battery charge is spent per hour playing the video in Full HD. Therefore, you should expect 22 hours of offline video viewing. Excellent results!

      If long-term autonomy is not so important, you can disable power consumption optimization in the settings and select "High performance". In this case, the device will work a little faster, and the battery consumption will be stronger.
      Great screen
      Reno 3 is equipped with an AMOLED panel with a diagonal of 6.4 inches, a resolution of FHD+ (2400x1080 pixels), and an aspect ratio of 20:9. The display occupies 90.8% of the front panel area, has a teardrop-shaped cutout for the front and thin frames. The image is clear, with rich but natural colors. The viewing angles are large, and the brightness reserve is sufficient for using the phone on the street in any weather. With minimal screen light, it is comfortable to read in a dark room. And at night, you can switch to "Dark mode" - in fact, this is an inverse version of the design: with a black display and a white font. Many people will find it even more convenient, and it also saves battery life.
      Branded shell of the seventh version
      Reno 3 is running a proprietary ColorOS 7 shell based on Android 10. When comparing with the previous version, you can see that the font has not changed, but many icons have been redrawn. However, their shape and size can be easily changed at your own discretion. The screen can be converted to a split format - just make a three-finger swipe up.
