Apple car with an unusual set of sensors spotted in Cupertino
Over the past couple of years, rumors about Apple working on its own autopilot car have gradually faded away, while insiders have announced the freezing of the project. Nevertheless, the other day in Cupertino, a car was seen with an unusual set of sensors on the roof. It is assumed that in front of us is one of the prototypes of the Apple car.
So far, it has been reported that a range of sensors, including radar, cameras, and LiDAR, are used in the tested Apple machines. The latter is similar to radar but uses laser pulses. In many models with autopilot, it is needed to create a highly detailed three-dimensional map of the car’s environment at a distance of up to 100 meters. For example, Google machines can detect the hand signal of a cyclist, and Waymo can determine in which direction pedestrians are moving and predict their likely movements.
For the same reason, LiDAR has a high cost. Apple is reportedly working on its own LiDAR array and is also in talks with suppliers to develop its own device, which would be cheaper, smaller, and easier to mass-produce.
Live photos of a Motorola smartphone with a retractable camera
Motorola has already introduced smartphones with cutouts in the screen for the front camera - One Vision and One Action. The company has even more impressive plans ahead: the release of a frameless smartphone with a retractable front camera.
Probably, the smartphone will not be included in the program of budget Android One devices and will work on a customized version of the OS. Other details are not communicated.
Meizu M928Q will surprise with a large screen and a triple camera
Meizu continues to introduce smartphones for the Chinese market. One of the following innovations will be the M928Q model, which appeared in TENAA. The smartphone will receive a 6.5-inch screen and three rear cameras (12 + 8 + 5 megapixels). Meizu M928Q debuts in blue-black, green and red-orange colors. Case dimensions - 159.63 x 78.2 x 8.3 mm with a weight of 183 g.
The screen resolution is 2232 × 1080 pixels, the battery capacity is 4400 mAh. An unknown chipset with a clock frequency of 2.84 GHz is responsible for performance. Paired with it, 6 GB of RAM and 128 GB of internal memory are installed. In front is a 16-megapixel selfie camera. Out of the box, the Meizu M928Q will run on Android 9.0 Pie.
The cost and date of the announcement are not called.
The first HUAWEI smartphone on the Kirin 990 processor was tested in the benchmark
The premiere of the top-end Kirin 990 chipset, which focused on the capabilities of artificial intelligence, did not have time to die out, as records of passing the test of the HUAWEI Dev Phone test smartphone began to appear in the database of benchmarks. Presumably, this is the Mate 30 or Mate 30 Pro.
It runs on Kirin 990, the latest version of Android 10, and contains 8 GB of RAM. The AI capabilities were tested, while the HUAWEI Dev Phone left other chipsets far behind: 76,206 versus 35,130 points in the Kirin 810. The chipset set a completely new bar in questions of artificial intelligence-based computing.
HUAWEI Mate 30 will be presented on September 26th.
