The most important announcement of the event will be a new generation of apple gadgets: iPhone 11, 11 Pro and 11 Pro Max. We collected all the rumors and leaks in order to understand on the eve of the premiere what the new smartphones are.
      Positioning models and names

      It is expected that Apple will introduce three new products at once. iPhone 11 will be an alternative to the current “budget” iPhone XR, iPhone 11 Pro will replace the iPhone XS, and for fans of large displays, the company has prepared a new iPhone 11 Pro Max.

      Apple has long changed the cycle of radical renewal from a two-year, as it was during the presentation of the iPhone 4/4s and iPhone 5/5s to a three-year. Given that only two years have passed since the appearance of the "frameless" iPhone X, the upcoming presentation from Apple does not expect smartphones with a completely new design.
      The front face of the iPhone 11 will get a minimum of changes. There is information that Apple managed to make the sensor face recognition TrueDepth and front-end modules earpiece, camera and sensors light smaller, therefore the "cutouts" on the display can become less.

      The back of the case will receive changes only in the camera area. Instead of a double module, Apple will install a triple in the form of a protruding square area. The heir to the iPhone XR, the iPhone 11 model, is waiting for a dual camera, also taken out on a square “island”.
      Hardware keys, placement of the charging port and speaker grilles - all these elements will remain in their original places. Of the cosmetic changes - the "move" of the Apple logo to the center of the back panel of all smartphones.

      In terms of displays in new models, most likely, it will do without any innovations. The iPhone 11 Pro and 11 Pro Max will have OLED matrices with diagonals similar to current models - 5.8 and 6.5 inches, respectively. But the company can still refuse the 3D Touch function in connection with the desire to reduce the cost of the already expensive display modules.
      iPhone 11, according to one version, will receive IPS-display with the same resolution 1792х828 pixels, but generation Liquid Crystal. Changes can affect the color quality and energy efficiency of the matrix.
      Given the previous diagonal screens and the lack of redesign as such, the dimensions of all three models will remain almost the same. The presence of a triple and double camera can affect only a few grams of excess weight. It can also be affected by new batteries with increased capacity.
      Due to the changes that will affect the main camera smartphones, use the old cases with the new models, will not work.

      One of the large-scale leaks indicates serious changes in the battery capacity of all models. So, the iPhone 11 can get a 3110 mAh battery (against 2942 mAh from the predecessor), the iPhone 11 Pro - 3190 mAh (against 2658 on the iPhone XS) and iPhone 11 Pro Max - 3500 mAh (against 3174 mAh on the iPhone XS Max). Support for wireless charging remains.
      This year, all three devices can finally count on support for fast 18-watt charging. It is assumed that the power supply unit of the appropriate capacity will be part of the set of new smartphones, and Apple will still refuse from the obsolete “charger” of 5 volts and 1 ampere. This accessory has been haunting all the company's smartphones for 12 years.

      The iPhone 11 Pro and iPhone 11 Pro Max await triple main cameras. The resolution of each of the sensors will be 12 megapixels, and the installed optics will become the key difference between the modules. According to sources close to the Foxconn plant, their main feature will be combined shooting. The algorithm for capturing photographs in new Apple smartphones will consist of taking nine pictures at once (three from each module) at the moment of pressing the virtual “shutter” with their further combination to obtain the best photo quality.

      Apple did not ignore the improvement in the quality of shooting in low light conditions, and also seriously took up the post-processing of photos - the Smart Frame function may appear, which allows you to crop pictures without loss of quality. There is an option for the appearance of the background change function in Live mode when taking pictures.
      Improved camera capabilities will go to the flagship models: iPhone 11 Pro and iPhone 11 Pro Max. The dual-camera iPhone 11 certainly will not have all the functionality available to top devices.

      All three new Apple smartphones, without exception, will receive the latest A13 chip. Judging by previous leaks and the publication of performance results in the Geekbench test, a six-core processor with a clock frequency of 2.66 GHz will be much faster than its predecessor.
      The company will allocate 4 GB of RAM for the iPhone 11 and iPhone 11 Pro models, and 6 GB for the flagship iPhone 11 Pro Max. The principle of the proprietary iOS operating system allows the company not to chase the amount of RAM.
      Other features

      Of the less dramatic changes (or their absence), the following should be noted:
      Apple Pencil stylus support for iPhone 11 Pro and iPhone 11 Pro Max; improved Face ID scanner operation algorithm with a wider coverage angle (the ability to unlock from the position when the smartphone is on the table); lack of USB Type-C in all three models; lack of support for fifth-generation 5G networks; lack of Touch ID; the appearance of new colors, including gradient ones. Otherwise, the upcoming announcement can be seen as a presentation of smartphones that closes the three-year update cycle. Apple’s “revolutionary” gadget should be expected only in 2020.

      A few days before the premiere of the updated iPhone lineup, one of the unannounced new products appeared in the database of the popular synthetic benchmark. Test results revealed performance data for the upcoming iPhone XR successor with the new Apple A13 processor and 4 GB of RAM.

      The smartphone, codenamed iPhone 12.1, was equipped with a six-core processor with a clock frequency of 2.66 GHz and 4 GB of RAM. For comparison, the iPhone XR is built on the basis of the A12 model with a frequency of 2.49 GHz and is equipped with 3 GB of RAM. Testing the gadget was running iOS 13.1, a beta version of which for developers appeared last week.
      The new product scored 5415 points in a single-core test - the result of its predecessor was about 4800 “parrots”. In multi-core testing, the device scored 11,294, approaching the flagships of the current generation.
      It is noteworthy that according to the benchmark, the first-level cache in the new CPU is only 48 KB - much less than last year's A12 (128 KB). The second-level cache is also smaller - 4 MB versus 8 MB for modern iPhone XR and XS. It is possible that we are talking about an error in the Geekbench database.

    • OPPO Reno 3 review: Quad camera and lots of memory

      Last year's OPPO Reno 2 smartphone was remembered for its almost flagship characteristics. In the new generation, the emphasis has shifted - the role of the top-end device has been assigned to the Reno 3 Pro, and the standard “three” has become a mid-budget phone. However, Reno 3 received a powerful quad camera, high-quality screen, and a large amount of memory. We find out how good the new product is.

      Four rear modules and a 44-megapixel front-facing camera
      The main camera of Reno 3 received four modules, as in the top-end device of the series - Reno 3 Pro. However, there are some functions missing, such as interpolation up to 108 MP. All the blocks are arranged in a line on an islet that protrudes noticeably upwards if you wear the gadget without a cover.
      The main module has a 1/2-inch sensor with a resolution of 48 MP and a lens with an aperture of f/1.8. As usual, in standard mode, it produces 12-megapixel images, and if desired, you can take photos in full resolution - 48 MP. Telephoto is based on a 13-megapixel sensor and a lens with an f/2.4 aperture. The ultra-wide Angle is equipped with an 8-megapixel sensor and a lens with an f/2.2 aperture. Finally, the 2 MP sensor is designed to assess the depth of the scene.

      Telephoto, in addition to 2x optical zoom, provides a 5x hybrid zoom. The photo app allows you to quickly switch between four shooting modes: ultra-wide angle, 1x, 2x, and 5x.
      All modules can function together with HDR. This option works perfectly in Auto mode, improving both the light and dark tones of contrasting scenes. Artificial intelligence confidently recognizes the scenes being shot and selects settings.
      However, in non-standard lighting conditions, if you choose wide-angle optics, the color rendering will not always be accurate. This does not happen with the main module and the telephoto lens.

      Reno 3 shoots well in mixed and artificial lighting, as well as in the absence of light in the dark. In the most problematic cases, the Night program helps out. It combines several shots and works out all the tones of contrasting scenes. For shooting with manual settings, an Expert preset is provided.
      Multi-megapixel selfies
      The front camera is built into the display and is located in the middle of its upper edge, in the "drop". The camera is equipped with a 44-megapixel sensor and a wide-angle f/2.4 aperture lens. The default settings are set to a 40-megapixel resolution of images. And the full one is selected by pressing a separate on-screen button. The image quality in both cases is approximately the same. Sharpness appears only from a distance of about 30 cm, that is, for example, it is impossible to obtain a macro photograph of your eye. It seems that the calculation was made for shooting with outstretched hands or a selfie stick. For self-portraits, there are traditionally many beauty options: smoothing the skin, correcting the shape of the face and nose, eye size, and so on.

      Selfies in 44MP mode
      The smartphone records 4K videos at 30 fps. The supported format is Full HD with 30 and 60 fps, as well as slow-motion clips in HD and Full HD. During movie shooting, you can freely switch the zoom.
      In 4K mode at 30 frames per second, the gadget produces a picture with the correct color reproduction and high definition. But when working with hands, stabilization is noticeably lacking.
      Shooting in Full HD at 60 fps uses Ultra Steady Video 2.0 stabilization, which makes the picture smoother.
      Work and entertainment without lags
      Reno 3 is built on an eight-core MediaTek Helio P90 chipset. The new product in AnTuTu gives out figures comparable to the results of Kirin 970 and Snapdragon 712, and slightly ahead of Snapdragon 710. And in the Geekbench 5 rating - is on par with Snapdragon 845. This speed is sufficient to avoid slowdowns in any applications.
      8 GB of RAM allows you to run multiple programs simultaneously. The built-in fingerprint sensor acts quickly and accurately. There are no performance problems in games. In the popular WoT: Blitz with default graphics settings, the frame rate is confidently kept at 60 fps.

      The device has only one main speaker, which produces clear sound without distortion up to about 90% of the volume. Plus, there is support for Dolby Atmos. In this software add-on, you can add surround sound and a bit of bass - a great option for multimedia applications.
      Unfortunately, you will not be able to create a full stereo pair, because the speaker is quieter than the main one. But in Reno3 Pro two speakers shake as if you are holding a good Bluetooth speaker in your hands. Complete in-ear headphones deliver high-quality sound. Thanks to the audio jack, you can connect your favorite accessory.

      The built-in storage is not too large: 128 GB. But it is easy to increase it by using a microSD memory card. It is placed in a triple slot next to two nano-SIM cards. We had a 512 GB test card at hand - it worked without problems.
      High autonomy
      The gadget is powered by a 4025 mAh battery and supports VOOC 3.0 fast charging technology. A 20 W adapter and a complete cable during the test provided recharging at high speed. For example, from 33 to 78%, the battery was charged in 13 minutes, and up to 100% in 27.
      An hour-long shootout in WoT: Blitz (display brightness - 50%) consumes 11 percent of the battery. That is, without going to the outlet, it is about 9 hours of offline gaming. In Flight-mode, with the same brightness, about 4.4% of the battery charge is spent per hour playing the video in Full HD. Therefore, you should expect 22 hours of offline video viewing. Excellent results!
