Air conditioning is a good way to combat the heat, but its area of action is limited to the room in which it is installed. Japanese engineers Sony presented an original way to freshen up on the street: a miniature gadget that can cool its owner, weighs only 85 grams, and you can control the intensity of its work directly from your smartphone.
A compact device called Reon Pocket, size slightly larger than a credit card is built on the basis of the Peltier element. The thermoelectric element can be heated or cooled depending on the set operating mode, which can be selected using the mobile application. Complete with miniature air conditioning manufacturer offers a t-shirt with a special pocket on the back for discreet wearing the device under a shirt or jacket.
The product is not intended for permanent wear and is positioned as a "life jacket" for the transition between air-conditioned or heated rooms or office buildings. The built-in battery is designed for 90 minutes of continuous operation, a full charge will take about two hours. Now the development is at the stage of crowdfunding, the basic set of the device and one t-shirt will cost customers $ 130.
It is expected that "pocket air conditioning" will become a more affordable alternative to high-tech, but expensive smart clothes for athletes and the military. In case of successful fundraising, Reon Pocket will go on sale in Japan on March 2020.
