Two weeks ago, the release of the role-playing strategy SpellForce 3: Fallen God took place. In it, players discovered items, the descriptions of which refer to the released and upcoming games published by THQ Nordic.

In these descriptions, we found references to Biomutant, a remake of Gothic and a remaster of SpongeBob SquarePants: Battle for Bikini Bottom, about which it is already known, but the news was supposedly the announcement of a remake of TimeSplitters 2. According to the words of THQ has Nordic, it's just a joke.

TimeSplitters 2 is a first-person shooter that was released in October 2002 for PlayStation 2, Xbox, and GameCube. The game was developed by the British studio Free Radical Design, founded by former Rare employees who worked on GoldenEye 007.

Crytek later bought Free Radical Design and renamed it Crytek UK. In 2014, Crytek UK was closed and the rights to the TimeSplitters series were transferred to Koch Media, owner of Deep Silver. In early 2018, Koch Media was acquired by the THQ Nordic holding company, now known as the Embracer Group.

Last year, Free Radical Design co-founder and TimeSplitters co-founder Steve Ellis joined THQ Nordic to help chart the future for the franchise. In an interview with VGC, Ellis stated that he always viewed the TimeSplitters series as unfinished business.
