LG Electronics announced the start of sales of the 2019 TV line, including OLED and NanoCell models. The company offers screens of different diagonals, up to 86 inches. Sound and image on the new products are improved thanks to AI, intelligent processor of the second generation α (Alpha) 9 Gen 2 and deep learning technology. It is noteworthy that the devices will support Apple AirPlay 2 and Amazon Alexa.
This year, the fifth part of the premium TVs of the company was supplied with OLED panels. The expected growth in demand for them will be 3.6 million units in 2019, 7 million in 2020 and 10 million in 2021. Thanks to this, LG hopes to strengthen its leadership position in the premium TV segment.
In the middle of this year, the new products will receive an update to support Apple AirPlay 2 and Apple HomeKit applications that facilitate the broadcast of video and audio content, as well as connection to Apple's smart home devices. In addition, the 2019 models will update the software, including the Amazon Alexa virtual assistant in addition to the built-in Google Assistant. So LG will be the only brand that provides simultaneous access to both platforms without installing add-ons.
The α9 Gen 2 processor in LG's W, E and C series OLED TVs improves the image and sound quality with deep learning technology and access to an extensive visual database. This allows the processor to optimize the image, recognizing the quality of the content source, resulting in high realism. The processor also analyzes the environmental conditions to ensure optimal screen brightness.
The range includes OLED TVs with different screen sizes: W9 (model 77 / 65W9), E9 (model 65/55E9), C9 (model 77/65/55C9) and B9 (model 65/55B9). LG's portfolio of premium TVs complements the world's first 8K OLED TV (88Z9 model). And the advanced liquid crystal TVs of the NanoCell series provide high-quality of the image, exact color rendering and wider viewing angles in the case with ultra-thin frames.
Separate models OLED-TVs 2019 and NanoCell support HDMI 2.1 for viewing content with a 4K resolution at a speed of 120 frames per second and also offers a high frame rate in 4K (4K HFR), automatic low latency mode (ALLM), variable refresh rate (VRR) and improved audio return channel (eARC).
New products can choose content that is compatible with Dolby Vision-to obtain HDR-quality even in bright lighting conditions. The α9 Gen 2 processor fine-tunes the sound according to the type of content, which contributes to a clearer transmission of dialogues in movies and TV shows, as well as the purity of voice in songs. But if desired, users can do the adjustment manually. LG's flagship TVs also support HDR and Dolby Atmos.
The line of LG NanoCell 2019 included 14 models with AI, screen diagonals which range from 49 to 86 inches. Other LG products from this year's line include the 8K OLED TV (model 88Z9) and the flexible LG Signature OLED TV R (model 65R9).
"LG continues to expand the boundaries of technological innovation in the field of television, and this is proved by our line of premium TVs in 2019. LG's advanced artificial intelligence technologies to improve the image and sound quality expand viewing capabilities and enhance the experience," said Brian Kwon, head of LG Mobile Communications and Home Entertainment.
This month new LG TVs will appear in South Korea and the USA, and soon they will be available in the main markets of Asia, Europe, and South America. Prices will be announced later.
